Well there was an ECRS Mk.2 replica inside the BAE Systems building with a guy permanently stationed next to it.
Must’ve completely missed it. Kicking myself.
my point here was that i have yet to see evidence that this is being considered for EF EK
also it uses a modified backend of what the Gripen E has…
As am I, never have enough time to see all the displays and capture some awesome photographs
Indicates here that the Mk2 can do simultaneous offensive operations such as jamming and air to air/ground, meaning likely the previous iterations are incapable of such, could be one way there’s an emphasis on EW.
Rafale is in a similar boat where RBE2-XG is stated to come with simultaneous operations of EW and other modes. To my understanding RBE2-AA cannot do both itself.
Found where I read that:
It’s in the last paragraph. Tho given the date of the article, it’s very likely this consideration has been thrown out by now (if the report was accurate in the first place).
(Btw, how do you add pictures to comments on mobile?)
the article was written some 1.5-2 years before EK was procured, idk how much before the actual contracts. Plus, Its done in 2 steps so the chance that step 1 EKs get this is low
Spoiler
that button, either that or hold down the picture, copy picture and then just paste it
How have they still not fixed the countermeasures breaking when a wingtip is lost…?
Either paste a copied image or press the red circled button.
Or press the green circled button and you get the tool bar that’s on the desktop version and you can add an image through there.
Thx
Has anyone else noticed recently that the PIRATE IRST seems to be… ‘‘Malfunctioning’’ more so lately ?
There have been quite a few times this last week where i’ve gotten rid of the AMRAAMs early, gone low and switched to Pirate/AIM-9 combo, gotten my locks but more often than this past week i’ve simply been unable to launch, even though i have IRST track.
Obviously i am aware of the issues with the Blue Vixen, sorry. meant Captor-M…
Switching to IRST and thus for some reason preventing AMRAAM launches.
But this is purely IRST/AIM-9 Failure, is it just me ?
You can’t launch any radar guided missiles using IRST at the moment, despite it being possible IRL. This feature affects every aircraft with IRST.
As for it not working with just Aim-9Ms, do you have a video of that, because that definitely should be possible.
I have not recorded anything yet. but i shall when next i have a few games, as it has happened now for 6-7 of my 10 or so morning games.
With that frequency, i doubt things will change this afternoon.
But yeah, as this did not affect me to much in the first month but this last week it has happened quite a bit.
as a sim player i am still waiting for the simplest thing for the typhoon that is crucial for sim battles can we get the bloody UV tint on the HUD or give every jet a helmet with glass tint in sim its outrageous i am blind ! XDD
As a player of both RB as well as SIM I wholeheartedly agree, however as this game is about killing eachother I will emphasize that those systems that make such actions possible, not only assists in such should take priority.
This patch was hurried out in such a horrendous manner nothing would make me happier than seeing a big patch with nothing but fixes would make me immeasurably happy.
It seems to me that gaijin has some difficulty modelling advanced systems beyond the capabilities of the 60’s/70’s cold war era.
The advanced systems we have now seems to be so incomplete across nearly all modern platforms if not entirely missing.
Also, I do wonder if the Eurofighter has some armor holes, as I’ve been the victim of missiles hitting behind me (direct 6) to and below (missile strikes water).
Not damaging the airframe at all (no shrapnel damage) yet knocking out the pilot. I know this is a major issue in ground and if thats an issue with the ground models I don’t see why that possibility would exclude aircraft.
Anyone have the entire Norwegian EFT power point presentation? I’ve found out that the displays shown on this site might be from there, and I’m thinking of maybe making a bug report to add the missing displays.
@Flame2512 do you have any info on PIRATE’s field of view? It is currently 64° x 40°.
I briefly looked into it and was hoping to compare notes…
If I have understood this excerpt correctly below, the IRST has a dual FOV of 25° and 8° in the vertical axis:
Spoiler
This is from a 1991 paper from Pilkington Thorn Optronics (PTO) which outlines design constraints for the IR detector used for PIRATE in the context of the EFA program at the time:
Spoiler
According to a later source from PTO, PIRATE indeed has a dual FOV:
Spoiler
From what I could find, the IR detector has a format of 4/3. Which would mean FOVs of ~33.3° x 25° and ~10.67° x 8°.
Thoughts? You would have a better understanding of the system than me.
Also according to the first paper, the total scan time for the field of search should be 2 seconds:
