Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 1)

Clear Fr*nch bias

Care to explain how the pilot puts the gear down?

What pilot?

what’s a gear?

shouldnt there be even smaller amraams on the amraam fins that are mounted to the amraam fins?

Tops of them wings look a little barren… jag treatment?

@ILuvAnneHathaway I might’ve found proof why the Eurofighter speed is being nerfed all the time.

Someone probably spoke about this before but is the thrust loss while turning in the typhoon normal, It seems like it bleeds a tremendous amount of speed compared to other aircrafts

Has been brought up before, but last we heard it was being looked into. But is more than likely wrong

The Eurofighter special feature

I might have an idea on how to properly test it following ny recent forray into testing the Rafales magic load factor limits.

Best way to test it imo is to compare thrust in a high g-pull at a given speed with thrust with no pull at the same speed. That way we can eliminate any issues with dynamic thrust differences based on speed and make it solely a factor of the AOA pulled and the altitude.

yes it is normal, every plane loses thrust while turning its just how jet engines work

It’s part British so why not some overwing Fuel tanks (like on the Lightning) and Asraams?

No, it’s the only aircraft ive flown to be able to drop below static thrust when turning at high AOA.

In game static thrust is 86KN after losses.
But during high AOA manuvers the thrust drops to as low as 80KN.

Then then takes several seconds to return to normal, just like a piston engine is being fuel starved due to negative G…

Reading about the 120-C5 and it has a HOB capability (which would really help the Typhoon in the short to medium range envelope)

Think we will see the C series 120 anytime soon?

as far as I am aware, the only meaningful difference is the extra 5 seconds of burn time giving it extra range, that would mean it had more energy after doing a hard turn, but not sure if its got any more HOBS per-say.

As for when I expect to see them. On something like the Tornado F3 Late I could see it in a relatively timely manner, but on the Typhoon, no chance. We are having to fight tooth and nail just for relatively insigificant things when it comes to balance like ePaveway IIs/EGBU-24s, tinted HUD or Radar fixes and the community seems largely against the Typhoon get much in the way of buffs/fixes.

A notably large buff like Aim-120C5 stands no chance until everyone else gets an equivalent, but the US mains have already started begging for it for the F-15C and F-18C, so maybe it will come sooner rather than later
