Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 1)

No one said the Rafale was 5th gen. Just that the only reason it wasn’t 5th gen was because of cost. Also, if Rafale can barely supercruise then what is the Eurofighter?

Eurofighter can and does Super cruise at Mach 1.4ish
With an standard A2A configuration.

Rafale was stated by the Swiss who tested it against Typhoon found the avionics of Rafale were superior but raw flight performance Typhoon was markedly superior.

Which in game we have no problem with

I love how you interpret the swiss report in your own way

Is what I said wrong?

Rafale has superior avionics and sensors, for both ground attack and air to air. Superior EW
Typhoon is faster, climbs better and can supercruise while able to go ground attack it is not as intuiative as Rafale.

In most cases the Swiss review put Rafale ahead with it’s superior sensor suites.
Typhoon 2nd and Gripen 3rd.

“The delta effectiveness score between each candidate was too big to allow the Eurofighter or the Gripen upgrades to fill the effectiveness gap over their direct competitor. The Rafale is the only NFA candidate which fulfils in all type of missions the “Meet Minimum Expected Capabilities”. The Eurofighter is able to perform all type of missions but fulfils the “Meet Minimum Ex-pected Capabilities” only in the Air-to-Air domain”

Yes Rafale is the superior multirole platform.
Due to its senors and weapon systems and not its flight performance.

Despite that the Swiss have bought the F-35 which shows in most cases arms procurement is politically motivated and not indicative of the quality of an airframe

I wouldnt rely on Swiss reports too much.

Their reports about Gripen is criminal, makes Gripen look like quite weak compare to its real life performance.

EF is a piece of trash in ARB rn

Which is why these reports are to be viewed objectively.

Swiss like most of Europe has bought the F-35 but that isn’t because any of the 3 tested wouldnt meet the requirements.

Exactly, in this case i believe all those Delta Canards were underestimated by Swiss military.

Gen 5 is a marketing term for aircraft that incorporate previously demanded features while focusing on stealth features.

That is why aircraft such as Eurofighter, Rafale or SU-35 are not 5th gen.

The term was coined by Lockheed Martin for marketing actually.

Some aircraft which are “5th” gen actually compromise on raw performance to reduce cost where such performance is not deemed necessary.

So the Eurofighter can’t pull more than 9-10Gs in a turn past Mach 1. The changes on the Eurofighter this update was a reduced G limit on the wing (I believe 12Gs), but if the canards take a good portion of the Gs experienced, shouldn’t the G limit be much higher? how come the Eurofighter can’t pull more than 9-10 G’s? Is this simply a bug?

So the new .17 update, (client is currently on .18) removed this line “updateActiveDetectedTarget”, which i think would make it so if a target launches a missile the radar won’t confuse the 2 anymore because the radar won’t try to update the plane contact to a missile contact.

I wonder if they could make a RCS gate instead to differentiate between a plane and a rocket and not merge or confuse the contacts, but idk code.

Cost was the driving factor for all Eurocanards, it’s why they are canard deltas. The entire premise of this is to maximize fuel and payload for the weight given, reduce the needed thrust for the engines, and to improve materials costs. Other benefits such as transonic and wave drag performance are there as well…

But ultimately France didn’t make the Rafale stealth because they had underestimated what could be done to reduce radar signature further. If they had the knowledge we do now, they may have placed higher emphasis on this to future-proof it.

The Eurofighter by contrast did not place much emphasis on low observables and did what I would consider the bare minimum, leading edges only.

Then go complain about it on the rafale forum. You’ve been trying to get the eurofighter nerfed based off of misinterpreted sources lol. Besides, rafale is only being held back as much as game engine limits have it - it’s been getting buffs every other week.

It (barely) hits 12 when you’re running min fuel clean. any A/G kit will lock it to 10 for some reason.

I would argue that the general population of the thread has been reaching… to put it nicely… when it comes to claims about the Eurofighter for a long time, not that I haven’t done the same. Just a general observation.

I mean…

@ShOt_MaCkEr
That’s not how War Thunder works.

@quartas121
Decompression changes nothing cause they’ll still be the same BR as F-15s just as they should.
