I’m not going to lie, the wide scan is horrendous, literally no reason to use it. Medium scan/narrow scan are fine, although I don’t see a reason to use medium scan most of the time other than finding targets. Narrow scan is almost always the way to go.
Narrow scan works.
But in air rb it’s pretty bad. You cant switch between
Targets reliably.
And ground battles they find you first
Yes 1 v 1 Captor M is fine, but in 16 v 16 it’s a liability.
Unless it’s SB and you have no idea where the target is visually
even in sim using the hmd on the rafale is still more reliable than relying on tws at close ranges. there is not a single radar that dosent suck at tracking targets at close range
Rafale gets HMD IFF something thus far been denied to the typhoon, so you need to TWS to sometimes IFF what it is you can see.
I cant let this stand its missiing like 40% armor on the front. not gonna start with the other areas
PS thats 40% against KE. CH is another thing its underperforming
Well that’s some pretty damning evidence that says they used Blue Vixen as a base. I have no idea how they managed to make it worse than the radar it was based on.
wait till you find out every fm in the game is based on the p51d5
but what is that based on?
Why wouldn’t they? Real life CAPTOR-M was based on Blue Vixen.
The mechanical steering of the CAPTOR-E would give it the ability to maintain lock / view of the target while staying in the notch (though not as good as Su-35’s 60 + 60 = 120 deg steering):
Rafale’s RBE2 is limited to 70 deg for comparison.
It will also carry more missiles than Rafale.
The main advantage of Rafale will be the IR MICA and IR MICA NG, though the effectiveness of those remains to be seen, given most of the planes that they face will have MAW.
and assuming that lock ranges aren’t capped at which point the Typhoon’s 6x ASRAAM + 4x AMRAAM would be superior to the Rafales 6x MICA EM/IR
same for 6x Iris-T + 4x AMRAAM imo
In terms of short to medium range “BVR” (like say around 20km) no. But if we are talking about WVR combat then yes
My response to his comment was that AESA alone in the current state of the game wouldn’t still overshadow the fact that the Rafale has a better kit for the current meta, I wasn’t considering better missiles when responding to his argument.
AFAIK MICA IR has datalink and LOAL, so lock range shouldn’t be limited …
ofc it wont be better than the mica in every aspect
but it does where an IR missile matters the most for me in WVR
Again, Assuming thata is modeled and that they dont hard limit lock ranges for gameplay/balancing reasons which I could very easily see them do (much like they have done for AGMs)
Also, ASRAAM should have LOAL
If it means they can add the F-22 go for it.
Why?
