Dear Gaijin Entertainment Team,
I hope this message finds you well. As a dedicated player of War Thunder, I greatly admire the dedication your team shows in continually refining and updating the game to deliver an authentic and engaging flight simulation experience. Your attention to historical accuracy and technical detail is truly commendable, and I appreciate the hard work that goes into each update.
I am writing to respectfully seek clarification on two specific aspects of the Eurofighter Typhoon variants currently implemented in the game, as they appear to deviate from real-world capabilities:
Air-to-Air Missile Loadout: Could you please explain why the Eurofighter Typhoon is unable to carry 12 air-to-air missiles? In real life, the aircraft has demonstrated the ability to equip a “Beast Mode” configuration with up to 14 Meteor beyond-visual-range missiles, alongside additional short-range missiles, as publicly showcased by Eurofighter.
Radar Field of View on the German Eurofighter (EASA): Regarding the newly introduced German Eurofighter (EASA) variant with the CAPTOR-E AESA radar, I notice it features a 180° x 180° field of view (FOV), whereas the British and Italian variants have a superior 200° x 200° FOV. The Luftwaffe operates advanced CAPTOR-E / ECRS Mk1 radar systems, which sources indicate possess a full 200° field of view .is this modeling choice based on specific declassified data for the German configuration? Alternatively, are there plans to introduce an upgraded Luftwaffe variant with the full 200° FOV in future updates to better reflect operational reality?
I understand the complexities of balancing gameplay with historical fidelity, and I have no doubt these decisions stem from thorough research.
Thank you once again for your time, expertise, and for creating such an exceptional game. I eagerly await your response and continued updates.
The 180x180 comes from an value which is puplished by Hensoldt, one of the 2 developer of the Mk.1 Radar
We wont get an better Mk 1 as we allready have the best Mk 1 possible (Mk1 Step 1) for the Luftwaffe EF, only way for 200° would be if Hensoldt would post an clear news that it can do 200°
False, the Picture is just an Render of an possible option, yet no one has done it IRL
The other Eurofighters shouldn’t even get the Mk. 2 as it’s far from being operational so the German Mk. 1 is the only one that is being implemented as of now
Giving UK the mk. 2 radar is the equivalent of giving them a plane that won’t be in service until 2030 at the earliest at that point give them F-35 and FCAS and what not
MK2 is operational in the exact same way that Mk1 is operational for Germany. Test platform.
FGR4 with MK2 has been operational for over a year now.
There is 0 way Germany could get such an upgrade without Britain and Italy also getting the same upgrade, to expect different is insane. It would be akin to Britain expecting ASRAAM but not expecting IRIS-T to be added
If you have a photo of that, please share it. That would be the final piece needed to prove it. There is so far only a few brochures and a pilot interview that show AAMs can be mounted on the inner wing pylons, as well as speculation that the mount is mechanically and electronically compatible. At most needing a software update. Size concerns are eliminated by the Marte-ER
I have this, it doesn’t show it with 12 missile but if you just count the hard points and look at the official rendered photos it pretty obvious that it actually can carry 12 missile
Unfortunately what is needed to prove it beyond a benefit of a doubt is an image of missiles actually mounted on that inner most pylon.
Such as this one showing the 6x Marte-ER fit:
The issue is that the Typhoon has yet to be deployed in a role where it has required such heavy A2A loadout, its already incredibly rare for them to use the twin missile carrier. Its combat deployments so far have been in an A2G role such as in Op Shader or in a QRA/Air policing role, where a heavy air superiority fit isnt needed.
So what is needed is a photo, or better yet a video of them in a heavy weapons fit. To that end, we are actually looking towards the Turkey sale as they have a bit of a reputation for sticking weapons on every pylon.
