Eurofighter Typhoon - Germany's Best Fighter Jet

Acceleration = Resultant force ÷ Mass
Resultant force = Thrust - Weight

Assuming a thrust of 35kn would give an acceleration of 175m/s (not accounting for drag)

If you can work out the acceleration using the video, you can use the above calculation in reverse to calculate the thrust.

If you know the acceleration and the burn time of the motor you can calculate the minimum Delta-V of the misisle.

It’s more of a guesstimate as we don’t know the speed, altitude, enpty weight and drag index at the time of launch, but it’s extrapolation using basic physics which will get us to within 10% of the true performance of the missile.

nozzle is known. It doesnt exist

you dont have to subtract weight from the thrust as the missile is not going against gravity.
it travels its own length in about .2 seconds or faster (counting frames) which is 3.65m giving an acceleration of 182m/s² and with a weight of 190kg thats just under 35kN

but this is a lot of guessing (the framerate of the video is not very high, not accounting for weight loss due to fuel burn and ofc drag)

Assuming the video isn’t sped up, slowed down, or altered as well. We have a ballpark but it’s not sufficient on its own as a source. As I said earlier, we don’t know the altitude or other factors either. Thrust can vary quite a bit depending on altitude.

Which has already been clarified/covered.

We are inferring what the likely performance of the booster is based on the evidence we have, while clearly stating this is not accurate and has a large error % due to signficant unknowns. But its close enough to prove or disprove wild assumptions that have been made about the misisle in the past.

I really need EF2000 or something to replace this F-4 💀

(no prem is pain, 2 hours even didn’t get single part)

Tbh the stock grind was not as bad as I thought. I just unlocked the rocket pods as first mod and went for bases (yes it’s not easy to go for bases in a fox 3 environment but if you fly low and stay as far as possible from the “big group” you eventually make it to the base).

yeah I grind rocket pod. Without it I cant grind this plane. After got it im able to get 3K-5K RP (no prem acc)

Wait are they rank one??? Just stock ground the j8f and it doesn’t get the bombs it needs to kill a base until rank four.

Yeah you can either buy chaffs, compressor, fuselage or the rockets

We apperently retiring the old amraam stocks we have to replace them with C-8s

According to this
https://www.hartpunkt.de/bundestag-genehmigt-neue-amraam-lenkflugkoerper-und-modernisierung-der-f123-fregatten/

Range Options for the BW EF2000
Short: IRIS-T
Medium: AIM-120C8
Long: Meteor

yes as expected.
initial acquisition for integration and testing and then hopefully a larger acquisition for numbers.

pretty sure they’re doing the same with the 120C-8

do you know what the delta qualification is?

i think thats when they do their own testing / qualifications. this is pretty standard stuff as different countries have different requirements for something to be certified and if another country’s testing doesnt match or exceed that then there needs to be a new round of testing

Wait we getting 120 C-8s for the Eurofighter? I though they are only procured for the F-35 because Meteor is still not integratable into it.

the logical step is to make them useable for both,
the meteor is quite a bit more expensive and if you ahve the stock you want to be able to use everything u have available

c-8s are getting added to Eurofighter yes.
the german f-35 package includes them already so they’ll be part of the Bw’s stocks anyways and as the current amraams are probably nearing their end of shelf-life its just a smart idea. Meteor production and procurement isnt sufficient as of right now.
Meteor is getting integrated into F-35 though but the german gov hasn’t participated in that venture yet and the brits have a lot of delays
sooooo
its better to have the c-8s to replace A/Bs than to miss out on that capability all together and be stuck with like 300 meteors.

Yeah I just saw the the contract is for 969 with an option for up to 1000 Aim-120 C-8s

the 1000 is a combination of the 969 order and the C-8s included in the F-35 package.

latest news was that a purchase of amraams has been permitted with a value of 178 million euros which is far from the 969. sooo probably around 60.

same scheme as with Brimstone - initial small acquisition for testing and integration with planned later mass order
