Eurofighter Typhoon - Germany's Best Fighter Jet

Why not EF?
Why Germany couldn’t get fnf in tip plane???

well i see the datamines for the ASSTA3 and then for the HOSBO and 1+1 = 2, its probably gonna go onto the nado… now does that mean it wont go onto the eurofighter? not necessarily

It might come also to the Eurofighter, but Priority is for the SLE as its gimmick

Note for anyone intrested.
The first link to the lecture landed in the spam folder of a few of us.
Just few minutes ago we got another one.
Both seem legit with the same passcode and teams id

Got an answer from the BW.

Basically, every weapon has to be integrated for every Tranche separately. So weapons integrated for T2/T3 aren’t automatically compatible with T5, for whom they have to be separately integrated.

Spoiler

Ugh.

Very peculiar.

Scheduled to enter service this year.

Depends on the software standard. If a T3 airframe was integrated with X weapon before T5 was finalized, that T5 won’t have the same software package. Naturally needing an upgrade.

Tranches after and including 2 aren’t that much of an impact on what’s possible on a given Typhoon. The software package currently install does however.

That’s what I thought as well, but the BW is very explicitly saying that integration is absolutely necessary for each Tranche

Maybe differing terms? For example you wouldn’t go through release or fit trials again unless there is an aero dynamic or pylon change. Then all that’s left is the software package.

Maybe? I can try to ask if they mean Tranches or the enhancement phases

Do not understimate the german bureaucracy, regulations and laws (especially for certifications) even for the most unnecessary stuff you can imagine! Everything has to be legally water tight and responsibilities clearly defined, otherwise the civil servants don’t give their signature and therefore the green light to proceed.

And requiring a recertification of every weapon system just because of a software update is far from unrealistic as it happened before and is still happening. Reason: If the weapon is not certified for the according the specific airframe and all its modules and the software version used and this weapon malfunctions, you can’t sue the manufacturer (of the weapon, airframe, etc.) as the “compatibility was not guaranteed”.

Well a common phrase on UK aircraft is “service deviation”.

In the lecture about the amk the professor said that store integration is as easy as a software update that only needs a CD ROM

With the AMK kit iirc. Before that it was apparently quite time consuming.

To integrate a weapon they don’t only need to make it functional with the fire control system but also adjust the flight control system.

The integration into the fire control system isn’t the issue, but for every new store that is integrated they need to do wind tunnel testing to accordingly adjust the flight control system whenever those stores are attached.
The wind tunnel testing is what takes so long but after they are done with that they only have to do a quick software update on the service aircraft

that was in regards to upgrading any existing jet with the AMK.
