Only thing they would have to change is how it works, iirc it designates where you look. They would have to stick it to RBL or gunsight unless you carry pod.
nvm tried it, It designates where your crosshair points.
And thats how it allready works in-game
So does most other planes. It’s for emergency landings. Does not make it a naval plane.
F-16, F-16, F-5, even the F-22.
All have those hooks
F-16s have two? was the first one not strong enough or something?
Maybe he meant the F-15
There are already planes in game that have GPS bombs with no targeting pod no?
Iirc Gaijin just used a very simple implementation.
You can utilize gps bombs without a targeting pod already. You set a point on the desired location and release them just like CCRP dumb bombs. It’s somewhat hard to be precise at long range though.
these days i play my tornado to lan on carrier it is hard but Fun
Belly landings dont count
The English Electric Lightning had Emergancy Arrestor hooks. The thing to keep in mind is that if you design an aircraft to stop rapidly in an emergancy on a rwy without brakes, or hydraulics available for flaps, using an airfield mobile/stationary emergancy arrestor system is great. You can put whatever low resistance you want on it to reduce damage to the airframe as you have an entire rwy to descelerate in.
Meanwhile aircraft carrier aircraft have their undercarriage, fuselage and mountings for the arrestor hook MASSIVELY strength reinforced because you are trying to stop the same aircraft at the same speed in a mini fraction of the distance.
If you “somehow” tried to land an F-16 on an aircraft carrier, Typhoon or Tornado. I can guarentee you that either the arrestor hook would fail and be ripped out with all accompanying structure. Or the deceleration force would make the airframe unuseable due to extreme fatigue forces. (At best half or remove 3/4 of the lifespan left for that average airframe after doing it once or twice).
Well, thats why its only for Emergency cases
ePaveways at the very least, require a tpod to be equipped
Airfields in winter, airfields anywhere really.
Many have arresting systems for shorter landings… or landings in general in terms of Alaska.
I mean F-15 lol.
yeah whatever happens, a Eurofighter is definitely stopping on the runway. you got your brakes which are actively air cooled by the way, the canards, the airbrake, the drag chute and if all of that fails, the hook.
But in War Thunder, Brakes are so bad
Theres brakes like on the F104 which are very strong and brakes are only getting more effective
