Overview

Originally designed in 1955 for the Council of Europe, the flag was adopted by the European Communities, the predecessors of the present European Union, in 1986. The proposal to adopt it as official flag of the European Union failed with the ratification of the European Constitution in 2005. In 2007, the European Parliament officially adopted the flag for its own use.

Reasons to add this flag

Even if not used by a specific nation this flag represents a geopolitical entity very important on the military stage. Many documents such as the passport are “european passport”. A strong sense of belonging exist related to this flag.

the EU is not a country so i dont think it really fits within the game. just as a commonwealth of nations flag doesnt. There is no EU tree to merit its addition

Its only function in-game would be to be used by certain players to put on vehicles to show a political affiliation in a similar vein to adding a russian “Z” marking would which is something War Thunder should avoid doing. Political ensigns are only problematic

Also doesn’t make a ton of sense to be putting on military vehicles since the EU is not a military alliance. Therefore putting it on your vehicle is inherently and intentionally political.

What ones are there? Afaik all swastikas are censored in some way, and I can’t think of any others that are directly fascist.

For the EU flag, I’m neutral on it. I wouldn’t mind it coming, but I don’t really care if it doesn’t come.

WT is very inconsistent with historical flags.

We have the soviet flag under which millions were murdered,

the apartheid flag which was activley oppressing black south africans

but no ww2 german flags that arent censored

theres also no rhodesia flag despite having two rhodesian vehicles its very weird.

this still doesnt validate the EU flags addition as there is no EU army.

nobody unless they are extremley politically driven says they are from the EU as the EU isnt a country agreed.

I dont want politics in this game unless its just for a historical context. EU doesnt fit that criteria

a lot of places that have this flag issue do a censored and uncensored version for certain countries. not a fan of a law in another country affecting me at all

I don’t think we should have flags of purely political/economic entities. I’ve not seen a single military vehicle with the EU flag.

It took 3 minutes. Honestly it might be more difficult to find some ingame flags from military vehicles. It’s not awfully common to paint them on the vehicles, except for different multinational operations. In homeland it’s usually different national insignias or just unit markings.

EU is not a country and is originally a political flag for european union and is flag for continent of Europe aswell. Dont think they want to go anywhere near politics but I actually want this in game.

Idk why people pay 500GE for a flag/decal. Biggest waste of money.
