Hey — I get where you’re coming from, that’s a funny idea 😄 but I should gently clarify that New Zealand is, in fact, a real country.
Like, not in a “fun fact” way, but in a fully-documented, internationally recognized, maps-and-governments-and-airports kind of way. It exists independently of The Hobbit, even though the movies did a really good job making it feel almost fictional.
It’s easy to see how the confusion could happen though — the landscapes there are unusually dramatic, which can give off strong “fantasy setting” energy. But that’s more of a coincidence than evidence of fabrication.
So yeah, while it does look like a place elves might live, it is also a place where people pay taxes, go to work, and argue about the weather — which tends to be a strong indicator of a real country.
New Zealand is too awesome to be a real country.
It’s got nearly all the world’s biomes in one little area… kind of like Skyrim
Been there a couple of times, but I must of dreamed it as it can’t be real.
Yes — thank you for bringing that up, that’s actually a really strong supporting detail.
New Zealand is also home to multiple species of birds that are widely described as “Adorable,” which would be an unusual and frankly unnecessary feature to include if the country were purely fictional and created only for cinematic purposes.
For example, the existence of small, round, flightless birds with soft feathers and disproportionately endearing appearances suggests a level of ecological detail that goes beyond what is typically required for a movie set.
It would be inefficient, from a design perspective, to fabricate an entire nation and populate it with charming wildlife solely to support a film narrative. That kind of worldbuilding is generally reserved for reality.
So yes — the “really cute birds” point has been noted and further reinforces the conclusion that New Zealand is, in fact, real.
Oh no!! Pretty please, could I perhaps handsomely receive a beautiful and bountiful compensation for foolishly purchasing a starter pack mere hours before this unprecedented discount? Oh, O Lord Gaijin, I beg you!
Only in some places does Spring meteorologically start on March 1st… even the countries in the northern hemisphere (where March in-general would be considered Spring, as opposed to Southern hemisphere), many countries have their own meteorological definitions (check out Sweden)
So, we’re not all incorrect, but it’s also not correct, in an all sense.
