Electronic warfare equipment (What can be added?)

Basically title,

What type’s of electronic warfare and defense equipment could be added to the game?
(or you would like to see in general?)

How would they work, on which vehicles, what Br’s would you expect them at?) you get the gist.

I expect electronic warfare to come in its own themed update, with both the mechanics and the specialized vehicles. For the mechanics themselves, we could have these:

  • Jamming enemy radars, both air and ground, to either stop them from displaying anything or create a crowd of false targets. Would reduce the opponent’s situation awareness and stop them from aiming their radar missiles.
  • Jamming missiles, probably ground-to-air ones and possibly air-to-air ones. Would make radar-guided missiles lose track of their target, but wouldn’t work on infrared homing and hot guidance from the launching aircraft if it isn’t jammed too.

Aircrafts currently in the game (or coming soon) could benefit from this, mainly Rank 8 ones (F-15E, F/A-18E, Rafale, late Gripens, Eurofighter, Su-27 and its family…)

New specialized aircraft could (and would probably) be implemented. The most iconic are of course the EA-18G Growler and EA-6B Prowler, but there has been others ew aircraft like the EF-111A Raven.
These specialized aircraft, with their unique gimmick, would obviously not sit normally in the tech tree. For them, I see two solutions:

  • Make them squadron vehicles
  • Put them in the tech tree, foldered with the aircraft they were derived from. This means foldering the Growler with the Super Hornet and the Prowler with the Intruder (which will then need to be implemented)

About the BR, it’s hard to tell right now since we have no idea how big of a role these capabilities will have in game. They might do little difference, or they might completely change the game and require a complete BR rebalance.

Kinda forgot about this post lol, But cool cool. I think either way their br would only warrant either a .3 or .7 increase sense the air frames would be generally the same. Being able to nullify an r27er/mica/120’s from distance would probably make them worth while.

Though do you think we have any irl reports of EW being used on such planes and tanks?

EW has actually been used plenty times irl, for example the growler is essential for penetration missions when enemy spaa is on site. The Rafale also used its electronic warfare extensively in the Libya conflict. There’s probably others that I don’t know about
But yeah EW is more than just theorical, it’s a very practical tech that plays an important role in modern conflicts

Man I’d kill for a sparkvark in game

Id play planes like these but I don’t think many players would want to play what’s essentially a support plane

Maybe, but we still have bomber players even though they’ve been left for dead lol. So it might be a lot more then we think.

To be fair about half bomber players are doing it to grind easier and the other half use it for gunshipping. Though i know some that just enjoy the gameplay loop

fun that you like it that much, most people don’t even know about it and only talk about the prowler and growler… really cool aircraft for sure, didn’t know it had fans

Badass name, looks cooler than the original airframe and it fulfills a neat role of jamming radars to support other strikers. What’s not to love?

A growler has a f22 kill. Ecw i think might be a bit too powerfull for arb. We might get towed decoys

That’s kinda accurate. Wasn’t it an amraam that got it the kill after the 22 was jammed?

an A-10 also has an F-22 kill.

(EA-18G with F-22 Kill Mark: what is the effectiveness of Growler’s Jamming System against F-22 and F-35 Stealth Fighters? - The Aviation Geek Club)

Many aircrafts have a f22 kill… the a10, the Rafale and I think a Eurofighter too

I mean even the best lose sometimes

Yeah of course, just saying that it doesn’t prove that the growler would be op… actually technically speaking the ecw suite of the Rafale C F3 would be deadlier in 1v1 than the growler with the old an/alq-99 pods

Yeah, another thing that should be added with ECW is Data link. The possibility to link up with squad mates and friends would be crazy and super fun.

That might have the potential to (finally) bring some actual teamwork skills to the game actually
