EldE 98: Missile Trolley

yeah no idea, cause the SLM has 2 of those

Iirc one of them is for missile communication, other for communication with radar/control vehicle, but I might be wrong.
Dont ask me which is which.

After looking at some pictures

It sseems the slightly bigger one is the between vehicle DL. Or so I assume, they look the same.
Previous version also lacked it, so I guess that’s that

Well, lacked might not be the best word, as the other Mas is there, just not complete.

noa whats the point of adding the Python-4 in a ground launched platform like the spyder sr that does not have a radar and it just uses the electro-optical sensor to lock the IR missile to planes and for the derby to be used there it needs a static radar completly dechated from the main vehicle (gaijin sees this as a problem) the SR with just Python-4 and without any radar would be a lot inferior compared with the ELDENHET 98 that have a phased array radar and a fifth gen IR missile (Python-4 is a four gen missile), the worth and best choice here is the Spyder AIO that is completly autonomous with an AESA radar, Python-5 and Derbys, gaijin would just add the Python-4 to the jets we have in the tree.

Because we have yet to see how these IRIS-Ts are going to have their seekers modeled yet

huh? i cannot understand how the Python-4 (which is a 4 gen IR) is related to the IRIS-T (which is a 5 gen IR) Python-4 have less range, worst IRCCM, no Datalink, no LOAL. soo… your answer just confused me a lot

I do like how the general reaction to this outside this forum has been “Oh, only 12km range? While the Pantsir does 20km? And we still have to deal with Kh-38MTs? Whats the point then…”. If this really doesn’t come with a better missile, its going to be DoA. That and “what is everyone else getting?” So far we know China is getting something and Sweden is. Doesnt seem all that great.

Oh!?! You’ve played with the IRIS-T already and know it’s coming with those features!!? Crazy…

I think he is right about datalink and LOAL

I don’t. Not until it is available to test. Because depending on how they model the seeker, it should have an acquisition range in excess of its kinematic performance (at least equivalent to its air launched range, based on the information we have), which the devs could decide is good enough and easier.

You know what? you missed the part that the launcher in the eldenhet 98 is at °90 degrees and its static the missile cannot see the targets to lock directly in the planes this completly means that it would need %100 the help of the phased array radar this also means that the missile most likely would have IOG+LOAL and maybe DL just keep this in mind because this whole system its not like a strela, type-93, LAVAD, Chaparral, Type-81C. if you are gonna say something more than what you say pls inform yourself better about how this systems works IRL.

LMFAO you mean like how you are so informed you don’t even know the LAV-AD (and basically every other K-Stinger) should have DL, yet doesn’t in-game.

And since you’re so informed what is the Off-bore/pre-launch gimbal of the IRIS-T?

Really… And you’re trying to make a point to me 🙄

He means the missile is vertical. He is technically true.

first of all the stinger doesn´t need those features because it would not go past 5km in game.

second of all the IRIS-T with DL and LOAL have 180 degrees of Off-bore and pre-launch gimbal. with just LOBL, it would be almost 90 degrees. It would be limited by the gimbal mechanism or the window on the tip of the missile many missiles cannot see past what they meant to see without any help of radars and DL+LOAL.

Base IRIS-T does not have a DL.

yes i know that the first block does not have DL it just have LOAL am just generally speaking right now sorry if i mixed the things. but i think that i was kinda clear with the things am speaking right now.

considering the amount of times i’ve stared at a helo 2km away with mistrals, unable to lock, and assuming the stinger’s seeker is the same, i can confirm it could really use DL

This whole debate wouldn’t exist if IR signatures weren’t all over the place though : harder to lock in cold environment while it should be the opposite, some helicopters being almost as cold as a scout drone, invisible clouds messing with the lock, unstable lock that doesn’t give you the ability to properly fire, and the list goes on…

the stinger would be more usefull if the give it LOAL thing that it should have and that! honestly speaking would be even more helpfull than DL.
