When the Snail says so.
the snail never say anything
Sweden did contribute by investment 18% to the programme and I’ve read a touch more in terms of technology transfer. Also Germany doesn’t use this vehicle, that’s a Germany problem really and not a mark against Sweden, but I hope to see a reciprocal vehicle in the German tree.
But calling it German-tech because the programme is German-led is like me calling the Meteor missile British tech because it’s British-led. The workshares by difference between Sweden and German on IRIS-T and the UK and Germany on Meteor is depending on the source identical or a few % difference.
Considering how good Type 81 (which was added year and a half ago) is inside that 6km bubble I’d honestly be very surprised if this thing is any less good than I claimed.
Man, why did I even get my hopes up for the new SPAAs/SAMs, of course Gaijin is only gonna add more 10-12km range SAMs while the USSR tree has 18-20km range on the Pantsir
They could add the SLM variant to the German tree on a MAN truck, and the Skysabre system for the UK with base CAMM which would but both systems around the 25km mark in terms of actual effective engagement range.
This is just the best system available to Sweden but I’d like to think they plan on adding more comparable systems soon.
the SLM has 40km range, wdym 25 ?
Don’t the SLM and CAMM missile have 40km range?
This is just the best system available to Sweden but I’d like to think they plan on adding more comparable systems soon.
eeeeh no, RBS 23 BAMSE exists
20km range on the missles
Only the USSR tree is allowed to have 20km range SAMs
ofcourse
Aye that i wont argue with mate.
Heavily doubt its going to reach the full 40km on the brochure against a target in war thunder. I’d expect that’s a headon range. Also IRIS-T has quite a draggy configuration with the benefit of agility.
SLM is 40km advertised as up to 40km, Skysabre is advertised as up to 25km but we know that’s lower than the actual figure by a good margin its probably closer to 40-50km. But as I said above, those are likely to be headon ranges.
I didn’t even know that existed, MB. Gaijin should’ve just added this. The issue wasn’t the pantsir being OP, its that only the country with the best CAS also had the best SAM. Ergo add more comparable SAM’s like this, SLM and Skysabre.
IRIS-T has its place as kinda a better Ozelot, but its not what we need right now at top tier.
40 km should be the range against a non-moving target
putting headon range would just be very dumb
also if thats true the 12 km range of the SLS could have the same logic applied
They’re advertising the maximum possible number against a non-maneuvering target, that would also be a target that’s going head-on with you to get the biggest number. Of course that number is probably reduced for security purposes but that’s a regular thing to do is pick the optimum possible configuration for the highest number possible for marketing material, we see that happen literally all the time.
headon target is just not what range is, that is max engagement distance not range
Why are the missiles modeled as inert lol… 2 blue bands means inert warhead/seeker and motor. Should have a yellow and brown band.
for the ppl that dont know the swedish ring colors
Övnings = practice
Then it makes sense as to why Gaijin have chosen not to add the SLM.
yeah 40km is just a bit too op i think for now, if all nations could get 16-25 that would be fine i think
