Yep, 90deg of boresight in LOBL and a 360deg sphere when used in LOAL (on aircraft at least).
That SLM though, isn’t that radar guided? (at least most of the way)
some 6 some 8
Yes, it flies mostly on DL, in terminal it discards its nose and uses the IR seeker.
Oh MB I thought it still shares the same seeker
It does. It travels on IOG+GNSS+DL, and in terminal it enables its seeker.
ok well hopefully they don’t forget LOAL then, would be unfortunate to just have the radar point a state of the art IR seeker at your target only for it to be unable to lock a helo sitting 4 clicks away, leading to a rather awkward situation X)
Nah they wouldn’t do that…
right ? (clueless)
Not according to the source i linked. At least the early version of SLS doesn’t have it as far as i know.
Not that it does not have it. You can see that launcher lacks DL system.
It does not have any mast or even any DL looking like system.
So even if the missile had it (tbh for 12 km not needed) the launch platform does not.
yeah had to recheck right now, FasterBoii didnt update the ground launched iris-t thread,
its still mentioned there, but the air launched one has it corrected with statements its planned for block 2
I was just going by this information:
:)
for those idiots like, what is the datalink part there cause, to me it looks like all have atennas
I know. I am following the topic :)
The big and tall masts protruding just behind the cab. They are much higher compared to normal radio antenne, allowing the to maintain communication with the missile better.
yeah no idea, cause the SLM has 2 of those
Iirc one of them is for missile communication, other for communication with radar/control vehicle, but I might be wrong.
Dont ask me which is which.
After looking at some pictures
It sseems the slightly bigger one is the between vehicle DL. Or so I assume, they look the same.
Previous version also lacked it, so I guess that’s that
Well, lacked might not be the best word, as the other Mas is there, just not complete.
It does whatnow
