Then you can’t really sell the Type 81 not having a radar as an advantage?
Because it’s not, and it’s stupid to place it at top tier, but it is an advantage to not getting killed but then it gets punished with endless uptiering from 10.0 to top tier because snail doesn’t understand context.
Yeah, the lock range of the Type 81 is a problem. We’ll have to see how the IRIS-T SLS does in that regard.
Even with good lock range, 12km isn’t going to be enough to actually stop the long range weaponry, it might be a stronger counter against closer ranged stuff but that will just stop being used and everyone will switch to the long range.
I mean, the Pantsir should be remover and everyone else would be on equal footing. But that wont happen. I just don’t understand the hype for this when it doesnt appear to change anything. Okay, so anything within 12km is challenged but we can already engage outside that range and there are even better standoff weapons on the horizon.
Perhaps. The ItO is currently capable of max 12 km range so it seems like they’ll have the same range if the lock range is relatively high on the EldE 98.
But yes, speculation until DEV-server :)
It wouldn’t hurt it to get LOAL though. :P
I mean, 12 km max range LOAL isn’t that dangerous when CAS (if played well) is capable of 15+ km engagements (Though most CAS players don’t play like that so not entirely sure, would perhaps be a good time to test LOAL on the DEV server if nothing else and remove it if it’s to powerful).
Denying CAS to come in close still has value. It’s very common currently. If people actually stop flying like that after the addition of systems like this (I doubt it) denying them that space still means it’s harder to hit the ground team.
50 G. Not that that matters much, even the 30 G missiles we already have effectively can’t be dodged.
Thats ONLY possible if gaijin have modelled its LOAL ability. Its suppose to be guided via radar till terminal phase where the IIR seeker engages and finishes the final bit off. I doubt gaijin have modelled this considering TY90s are meant to have this
This really doesnt give me hope for the other additions they teased or others have suggested. Hopefully it gets a better missile than what they said here.
Would be great against planes. Problem with that I see is that it would effectively remove helicopters from the game, which probably isn’t the goal game design wise. Maybe making the seeker sensitive enough to actually get front aspect locks against planes out to a respectable range would be the better course of action.
Well, the Type 81 still gets kills a plenty, according to stats. If people stop flying so close in that would be a valid point, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. There are a lot of planes around 12.0 that don’t have standoff munitions in the first place.
Which is still further than the EldE 98’s 10-12km. I did also specify “Helicopters/Munitions” for the automatic guidance, which means that you can defend yourself against munitions very effectively and still be able to target the CAS at longar ranges in manual mode afterwards.

Getting 1 kill per 3 games if you didn’t die can be considered plenty of kills with how stats are interpreted, especially because vehicle lifetime and vehicle lifetime earnings are looked at.
