Either Buff US M4/3/2 Tanks or lower the Battle Rating

,

So the American tank’s up to rank III(3) to rank V(5) hull armor is just weak & bad like seriously? Hull Armor with 63 / 38 / 38 mm penetration is really bad against other tank’s Hull Armor with 150 / 80 / 80 mm penetration is pretty much no chance. I would like to see the US M4 Sherman’s tanks get a buff maybe new (Hull Armor: 105 / 93 / 60 mm) would be more realistic. Thank You for reading

Sherman’s aren’t meant to really brawl… You should use your fast realod and STAB to flank enemies…

Umm… I don’t know how realistic that’d be… That’s a solid -1 from me…

Shermans are already great tanks, they don’t need buffs. Armour isn’t everything.

True, good point

main thing with the shermans is use their stabilizer and keep moving. don’t stop unless absolutely necessary

…how is that more realistic?

They could at least get their smoke launchers to help them flank. Its funny how Herman the Premium German Sherman gets one but the American ones don’t, even the premiums. I guess German mains wouldn’t know what to do without being able to pop smoke.

According to Documentation TM-9-731B(1943)

“The all-welded hull is of armor plate, 2 inches at the front.” which is at a 47-degree angle.
So |Relative thickness| 69.46. Which can be rounded to 70 degrees of frontal protection.
So right now, Gaijin isn’t far off from the actual numbers however their still far off the actual number. By approximately 5.96mm’s. So around 6mm’s of armor thickness is missing.

Armor doesn’t just “get buffed” because someone asked for it, and such a buff to hull armor would not be realistic.

The current hull armor of Shermans is already realistic.

2 inches is for early Sherman hull, like the M4 that sits at 3.7. Those have 2 inches (50.8 mm) at a higher angle of 56 degrees.

Late Sherman hull however, like the M4A2 at 4.0, is 2.5 inches (63.5 mm) at 47 degrees. It is less angled and thicker to achieve the same protection.

Absolutely not

AFAIK a lot of Shermans didn’t have the smoke mortar, as the US began welding them up (I’m not sure why), but iirc the M4A1 76 has the smoke mortar hole welded up, while the A2/3 76 were not built with the hole. I know the M4A2 75 does have the smoke mortar, just like the german premium though.

(Someone who is more knowledgeable about Shermans probably knows more about the smoke mortars)

The only thing I would suggest in this scenario is moving other nation’s undertiered vehicles up (KV, Panther/Tiger). The only Shermans that should go down in BR are the M4A2/A3 76, the M4A3E2 (75/76) and maybe the M4/T26 but the rest of them are absolutely fine where they are.

No.

Huh, when did they get around to adding those? I know damn sure it didn’t come with those when US Ground Forces released.

At least a year ago? It was one of those things they just added randomly in an unnamed patch.

…what?

I don’t see a 93mm side hull armor (thicker than Tiger II lmao) anywhere over here.

tiger has 150mm at 50° on the UFP and 100 at 55° at the LFP. But yeah he proposed an imaginary buff

He proposed;

AKA 93mm for the sides! Which is what I meant to be thicker than Tiger II’s (80).

Ah ok. Making hte armor this thick would probably make it worse considering it would weigh much more.
