The MiG-29M2 9.47SM is a 4+ generation multi role fighter made by UAC, and is a further development of the MiG-29M/M2 line. The MiG-29M2 9.47SM is an further development of the MiG-29M/M2 line. Fitted with an IFR probe and an PAZ-1MK refueling pod to give the MiG-29M2 extended operational range, an improved version of the N010ME radar called the FGM-129S N010ME Zhuk-ME, anti collision lights and a larger countermeasure set with increasing it to 64 instead of 32 on the earlier 9.41S/47S. The MiG-29M2 9.47SM has been in use with the Egyptian air force since spring 2017.

The history of the MiG-29M2 9.47SM starts in May 2015 with Egypt agreeing to purchasing 52 MiG-29M/M2 models. And the development of the 9.41SM/47SM would start according to Egypt’s specification for improvements over the initial 9.41S/47S model. Giving it an improved variant of the Zhuk-ME, Larger countermeasure set, modification to the lights with the anti collision lights and removal of the formation lights. The 9.41SM/47SM would also recive an IFR probe and the ability to mount the PAZ-1MK refueling pod giving it the ability to perform buddy refueling to each other up in the air. The improved variant would make its debut in March 2017 starting its test flights with the first MiG-29M2 named black 811 being the first one and MiG-29M black 801 shortly after. The first two units would finish its flight tests in a very short time and being transferred over to the Egyptian air force in April 2015. the MiG-29M/M2 would continue to be delivered in batches until 2020 with deliveries being concluded by then. With the MiG-29M/M2 being intended to replace their aging fleet of MiG-21M/MF/UMs. The MiG-29M/M2 has been seen usage in several military exercises for Egypt such as the Qadir-2020 military exercise, and notably at least 4 or 6 MiG-29M/M2s has been lost with them being captured in 2023 by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) group in Sudan when they were taking part in join exercises with the Sudanese army.
