EFV BR Suggestion – Balancing at 8.3–8.7 or adding upgrades for 9.3

TL;DR (short version)

EFV is too weak for 9.3 in its current configuration — it lacks strong armor, advanced protection, or ATGMs.
Its main advantage is amphibious speed, but that’s not enough to compete effectively.
A BR of 8.3–8.7 would fit better unless it receives one of the following upgrades:

  • Optional ATGM launcher (TOW/Javelin)
  • Laser warning receiver or light active protection system (APS)

With one of these, 9.3 would be perfect.

Detailed explanation

Hello Gaijin Team,

I’d like to share some thoughts about the EFV, currently at 9.3.
While it’s a fun and unique vehicle, its combat effectiveness doesn’t match others at this BR.
Its main advantage is amphibious mobility, but it lacks strong armor, ATGMs, or advanced defensive systems.

I suggested that:

  • In its current form, EFV would be better at 8.3–8.7.
  • Or it could stay at 9.3 if it received one of the historically plausible improvements:
    • Optional ATGM launcher (TOW or Javelin)
    • Laser warning receiver / light APS

This would make it balanced, realistic, and enjoyable at 9.3.

Thank you for considering this suggestion!

For them to add anything it’d have to exist (terms and conditions apply), and I’m not aware of any EFVs being fitted with ATGM launchers

If you’ve got evidence to the contrary please share

Totally agree with you 😅. EFV is fun and unique, but its effectiveness at 9.3 BR is really limited. It can only reliably fight lighter tanks, and its survivability against heavier vehicles is pretty poor. That’s why I suggested a small BR adjustment or some in-game upgrades to make it more competitive.

Yep, exactly – I wasn’t claiming that EFVs historically had ATGMs or APS. My suggestion was purely for game balance, to give the vehicle a chance to be more viable at 9.3 BR. Thanks for pointing that out!

They should give it proper targeting speed, so it actually matches a 1990-2000s US vehicle and not a 1950s US vehicle.

It literally looks like one day a bmp decided to eat another bmp, no matter how many times I see this thing it always making me laugh

The basement guy going to have a new material to make some funny shorts

I don’t have issues with it at 9.3, I quite enjoy it

No ahistorical changes should be made, and EFV being at battle rating 9.3 and people’s requesting for a lower battle rating, vehicles like ICV (P) at 9.7 battle rating with same weapon, basically the same vehicle by gameplay should have lower battle rating as well. This isn’t a matter of changing one vehicle battle rating but a proper decompression for ground battles, while battle rating 9.3 isn’t unplayable, any decompression may be very welcome.

Type 87 RCV at 9.0 that has ALL the same problems AND only a 25mm with less pen and no thermals, no LRF and no stabilizer…

30mm Bushmaster is perfectly capable of killing any MBT through the side with its APFSDS. and Auto cannon tanks are not supposed to be killing MBTs from the front (Abrams turret ring is a separate issue).
With current compression 9.3 is about right for it. Not to mention 9.0/9.3 is where most of the more lightly MBTs are, like the Leo 1, OF-40, AMX etc.

I reject your reality and substitute it with my own, with that being said, it should be 3.0. All who agree say “Here here”

Surprisingly Type 87 RCV has great performance despite the lower caliber: The 25 mm cannon has, obviously, lower penetration power however post-pen damage may be similar and comparable to a 30 mm APDS-FS while having higher rate of fire meaning you have better firepower, you can just spray people and less than a 5-rounds burst may be enough to take most targets at its battle rating, as I said in other similar topics, 25 mm and 35 mm autocannons has better performance than 30 mm autocannons.

All of EFV’s equivalent vehicles are 9.3.
Upgrades would cause EFV to go up in BR.
ATGMs would make it 10.3.

It is consistence with other bushmaster light tho. Badger at 9.0 with worse gun and similar mobility, ICV and RCV at 9.7 for some reason but is way faster (i love those thing), CV 9030 at 9.3 with similar specs.

Are they all overtier? Maybe, but honestly moving them down and making them fight soviet heavy would be kinda tough and the thing about lower br is there is much more heavier stuff down there that can be immune to your bushmaster side on even.

Now you all understand how the CV9030/35 feel.

I prefer its 7.7 version though, it’s a smaller gun and loses the APFSDS, but it’s stabilized and PZH-2000 deserve it.

Hopefully they can at least fix the controlled suspension. As it would be nice to have it sit a bit lower, would also be nice to see.
