Hello War Thunder devs/anyone who sees this!
I was just wondering whether editing the controls blk file by changing “cameraSmooth:r=0” to “cameraSmooth:r=-1” is allowed under War Thunder’s current game rules.
This makes the camera zoom transition instant rather than gradual, but I don’t want to risk getting any sort of account penalty.
I’ve read sections 6.1.2 and 6.1.3 of the War Thunder-specific rules in Gaijin’s Terms of Service, regarding the exploitation of game bugs and the use of unauthorised modifications. However, I’m still confused on whether this particular configuration edit is allowed or not.
Could you please clarify whether making this change is allowed in multiplayer battles and whether it could result in any penalties?
Thank you! :)
I don’t think there’s any issue with it. I did the same thing to modify the sensitivity in the targeting pod view, because when I had it fully zoomed out, I could pan the camera around just fine, but when I zoomed in, it was moving wayyyy too fast even though I had the “Camera sensitivity in gunner view when zoomed in” slider at the minimum value already. But if I lowered the general camera sensitivity setting, it moved way too slow when zoomed out, but just fine when zoomed in.
To my understanding, modifying your controls is perfectly OK, otherwise they wouldn’t have the controls tab in the settings menu. Modifying it in game just gives you a better UI for doing it and an easier way to find and set controls compared to just editing your controls.blk file directly.
