Basically a test done in the US specified the length of the rod and round. Using Lenz-Odermat you arrive at ~160-170mm (i assume that’s what Gaijin used, since they like to use this formula for their rounds)
However during the test in the US (1990s) the total length of the round was 219mm with a weight of 440g
Since then the round has been increased form 219mm length to 255mm and the weight went up from 440g to 550g, which is where the ~190mm comes from.
Little chance the round gets buffed, but tbh 160 is already not too bad
Im working on a report with Mulatu. Hopefully we can share more in the afternoon. Doing some pixel measurements among other things. The reports currently open and not accepted have too many assumptions that hopefully can be answered through mulatu’s report. Hopefully it will bring the 140mm at 1500m figure
it is in fact slightly underperforming but not by very much
idk why you say it’s over performing at close range but the only value we have to estimate that is 140 mm of equivalent protection pierced at 1500 m ( a 70 mm thick plate with a 60 ° angle ) wich seems almost correct in game
