I think since with other nations such as Finland, Hungary and China have gotten zsu 57 I think east germany deserves one. Especially since it was the first foreign user of the vehicle.
theres quite a few obvious east german vehicles that are missing, its kinda odd really
Germany operated a huge amount of these.
They’re very good as tank hunters (ingame) and would be much needed, since all German autocannon vehicles around this BR range lack penetration to be competitive.
I’d say the Marder A3 isn’t too bad, but still, the ZSU-57-2 is one of the rare C&P vehicles I actually look forward to playing in a new TT.
I think enough nations have the ZSU-57 by now. Germany could get plenty of Soviet vehicles from the Cold War but it would be all copy and paste since half of it was part of the USSR for a while.
Marder has not even 70mm pen and can’t harm the side of most tanks. The ATGM is a factor, but from a autocannon point of view just the removed Flakpanzer is useful as autocannon vehicle. Unfortnately just very few players own this one. So ZSU with its dual 150mm penetration ACs would be boss on most map types.
The vehicles in the Anti-Aircraft Collection (Marinearsenal, Kiel) alone would probably suffice to fill basically all gaps in germany’s AA tree (except TopTier where a competitive SACLOS AA is certainly a necessity), not just GDR that is, but ofc various german-made prototypes aswell.
As for GDR, they have Shilka, Strela (already implemented) and ZSU-57-2;
I cant find a good picture of it in the collection but you can see the ZSU-57-2 on the right side here:
FlakPz. Matador ZLA-30
Flakzwilling auf SPz Neu (RU 222 afaik It’s RU 221) “Z 30”
Edit: Do not ask me why this thing is called RU 222 so often…
WILDCAT 30 (here on Shark 8x8, the turret was however also fitted to TPz Fuchs)
I don’t really think Germany needs it rn
the wildcat would be so cool, though hopefully we get the fuch version
