It is not. It is an early G without the chin mantlet.
This is extremely easy to prove. The main difference between the G and A models is the side armor, which on G series was modified to 50mm at 30 degrees, which is exactly what the Panther “Dauphiné” (and the German Panther G) have.
Compared to the Panther A, which has upper side armor that is 40mm at 40 degrees. This also applies to the Russian captured T-V.
TL;DR: The Panther “Dauphiné” is infact a Panther G, specifically an early Panther G since it lacks the chin mantlet.
its actually a late g model as its done to simplify production late war

this is a late war panther G with night vision
All G models have this side armor, late or early. There are other differences like the lower glacis thickness (50mm instead of 60mm), and the roof armor of both the hull and turret.
The reason this is an early G model is because the chin mantlet was not done when Gs started coming out of the factory. Only later on did chin mantlets start to be added to tanks.
“At the same time a new gun mantle was gradually introduced. It had a ‘chin’ guard to stop enemy armor piercing shells ricocheting off the bottom of the mantel and penetrating the roof of the chassis and killing the driver or radio operator. When allied troops inspected the M.N.H. Panther production factory at the end of the war they found turrets still being produced with the older curved gun mantel with out the ‘chin’ guard.”
+1, would be funny in sim

Everyone else has captured vehicles; the British need theirs, even more so the big-name ones like this.
Panther “Dauphiné” was captured in August 1944, a month before the chin mantlet started being introduced. It is an early Panther G.
And what you quoted doesn’t prove they removed the chin mantlet late in the war. Just that they were still producing early mantlets.
Sure, why not? It could make for a fun Premium tank with a neat little bit of history. A +1 from me!
