Early jet CCRP usage

So i finally looped back and started grinding the US air tree after hitting 10.7 on the ground tree and having been stuck at 5.7 on the air tree for forever and have been having a hard time making use of the early CCRP on the jets. specifically the F-84F. when i aim at a tank on the ground and hit my keybind for either activate point of interest or activate sight stabilization (ive extensively tried both) it always sets my red square like 100ft short of the intended target or waaaay beyond the target. i have the same issue in the A-4E. it makes it near impossible to accurately place the impact point on the actual target. Im centering my reticle right on the intended target but no luck. Am i doing something wrong or is this just the way it is with the actual impact point being placed somewhat randomly. also this is my first post so im not sure if i selected the right category.

Hello!

Have a look at my article here in the wiki, where I try to explain the process as simple as possible. It’s originally intended for sim, but of course applies without any differences to all other game modes too…

Its a bit wonky in 3rd person, after having a quick look at @Schindibee s" guide I tried swapping to 1st person in test drive to set the point with the cockpit gunsight and found it FAR more accurate, I can only assume in 3rd person there is something that throws it off a bit (I noticed that the gun sight is swaying and bouncing from air turbulence in 1st person, but that is smoothed out in mouse aim, that could be the cause, while your pointer is on target the actual aircraft sight is being bounced off a bit and affecting the exact point you are marking).
I will also suggest you uses the CCRP in combination with dive bombing, I have found it can be quiet hard to get the SPI box right on the target from a low angle, it’s much easier to judge it’s correct placement from a steep top down angle.
I typically over fly the battle field at ~3000 to 4000m looking for targets, when I find one, I will dive on them and as soon as I get the SPI box in the right place hit the release button and pull back up allowing the CCRP to drop at the right point. I have found this allows very accurate hits while staying well out of range of radar SPAAGs. The only issue is the high alt drops take a bit of time to hit so you need to pick targets that look like they are going to stay put for a bit (also on the F-84 I found it’s best to double drop the 1000lbers and single drop the 2000lber the single 1000lb where a little inconsistent if the target moved or the SPI was a little off).
Hopefully that’s helpful to you.
