The MiG-29M 9.41SM is a 4+ generation multi role fighter made by UAC, and is a further development of the MiG-29M/M2. Currently the MiG-29M 9.41SM differs from the first MiG-29M 9.41S variant with modification of the aircraft. With the installation of the FGM-129C N010ME Zhuk-ME which is a refined variant of the already known N010ME Zhuk-ME, installation of an in flight refueling probe, anti collision lights and a larger countermeasure set with increasing it to 64 instead of 32 on the earlier version.

The MiG-29Ms story in Algeria starts in 2019 at the MAKS air show in Moscow with the announcement that the Algerian air force would be purchasing 14 MiG-29M/M2 9.41SM/47SM models. It was unknown if these new purchases was intended to replace their already existing Fulcrum fleet or simply bolster it, with the Fulcrum being a cheaper alternative to other options Russia currently is offering for export. Deliveries would start quickly with the first 4 units already being delivered by October 2020, quickly following it up with the remaining 10 being delivered in 2021.
