Dutch F-16AM Block 15 MLU

It will still be a very decent 13.7 F-16AM, just not the best one at 13.7 anymore.

i would rather want it to stay a single seater as i like the single seat f-16 design much more,
and it would handicap performance for no real good reason.

Yeah, I’m aware, there are pictures of Dutch F-16’s trialing it. However it seems like they were not on all F-16AM’s, only on the OCU. Maybe they could change the F-16’s name or model?

From what I’ve heard from you, it seems to be worse than any 13.7 and more akin to 13.3 ADF / MLU + possible 9m

It’s still certainly above the 13.3 F-16. The radar will still have the much needed TWS options. Only if you want more countermeasures or defensive tools you’ll be left out (just like the US F-16C currently is).

In essence it will be worse than the Belgian one, but more comparable to the US or certainly the Taiwanese one. Both of those are still decent at 13.7.

(And yeah, I believe 9M will definitely stay on it)

Oh, I didn’t know that. I would prefer it to remain an MLU, since that variant is more modern and advanced compared to the OCU. Given that the Netherlands already had those bombs in inventory, I think it’s sufficient for Gaijin to assign them to the MLU eventhough there is a chance they dindt carry them as gaijin is quite loose with arnement options.

Also, could you clarify something for me? The Dutch used the JHMCS helmet, what is considered worse than scorpion, does it still provide helmet-mounted targeting capabilities as i find those the most important.

Yeah, exactly. Gaijin could choose to make the differences négligeable in order to make it more equal.

I will be looking out for the next Dev server or the update itself.

yea i expect them to do something like that.

Also lastely, could you clarify something for me? as you seem more knowledgable on the topic,
The Dutch used the JHMCS helmet, I know it’s worse than scorpion, does it still provide helmet-mounted targeting capabilities as to my knowledge it does and i find that the most important feature.

For War Thunder it should give the ability to slave your Fox-2’s to your helmet yeah.

Not sure about the radar… Would have to look into it.

I can show some of the weaponry that was seen shortly after they arrived in Chile, in case it’s of any use, and at least in Chilean service they do use the JHMCS helmet.

They also came with the POD Atlantic

Could be cool if they add it at 13.3 with those changes.

I really doubt it.

If the F-16D can sit at 13.3 so could this MLU if it has all those downsides lol.

Not saying it should, but it definitely could.

wait how is the radar worse?
i pretty sure both use the AN/APG-66(V)2
i’ve just looked ingame the belgian one uses the V3, But… the belgians never bought the V3??? is this a weird mistake or am i missing something?

I’ve been researching this topic for a couple of days now, but I haven’t been able to find a definitive answer as to whether the dutch ever used PIDS on its F-16s. I’ve come across multiple sources that contradict each other, making it difficult to determine what is actually correct.

I’ve been looking for photographic evidence of Dutch F-16s equipped with PIDS. So far, I’ve only found the image below. To me, it appears to show PIDS, but I’m not entirely sure

I don’t believe that’s PIDS, it looks like another pylon. But I’ll take a look later.

Thanks for looking into it. In the meantime, I’ll continue searching and will post any potential PIDS-equipped pylons I come across in this post.

These are training munitions, a LANTIRN pod and an ECM pod.

Note: a PIDSU pylon is visible on the image.

You mean the pods mounted below the intake, right? The LANTIRN pod is mounted on the forward station under intake, with the AN/ALQ-131 mounted alongside it.

I was referring to the inner pylon on the left wing. It doesn’t appear to be a standard F-16 wing pylon of the type normally used, which is why I wondered whether it might be a PIDS or a related variant. as there are 3 covers where normally the countermeasures are installed on pids
