It is tho lmao even tho it went (singular) into service as a command tank it’s still a prototype tank. Now the Ferdinand is just using the chassis from the failed tank for other uses since they made so many
Well technically it’s not a prototype, since they modified it before sending it into service. It’s like the Stuer Emil and Dicker Max, not prototypes more of experimental designs that never caught on. They took a vehicle that failed and turned into into a vehicle that could work.
Still a prototype.
Both from what I remember were using the scraps of failed prototypes and turned into what the armed needed at the time
And that’s exactly what the Premium Tiger P is. The prototype was a failure so they fixed it up and sent one into combat.
Yes and it’s still a prototype tank lmao
No it’s not. It’s an experimental design.
Its a prototype.
No it’s not. A prototype is a preproduction design used to test concepts, evaluate designs, and gather feedback. That’s not what this vehicle was for this. This vehicle was a service experimental design used to command other tanks within its battalion.
In War Thunder we have both, the Prototype as VK 4501P and the Tiger P which was used as Command Tank at the eastern front…
Yeah I know that, but he thinks the command variant is a prototype!
But you are both wrong, because for the command tank, there were no fixes only added armor plates.
So technical it’s the same like the prototypes which were tested against the Henschel Tiger
Pretty sure the interior is also modified for radio equipment. It’s modified.
Common boy, you know what I mean
Add some more radio equipment, makes it not a new tank
Kinda does. They took a prototype added more armor to it, modified its interior for radio equipment and sent it out to the eastern front to serve as a command tank in an Anti-Tank Battalion. It’s not a prototype, it’s an experimental design built off of a prototype.
Lol

You totally mixed up definitions. An experimental tank is for testing and evaluation new technology or stuff, and later comes prototypes for testing the hole design…so the command tank is no experimental tank design, it was put in regular service into the Wehrmacht
That’s what prototypes are for. Experimental designs such as the Dicker max, Emil, and this Tiger are when they take left over hulls, guns, or whatever they can get their hands on, and make an experimental vehicle. A prototype is a vehicle that they make before production to see what works and needs to be improved, while an experimental design is just they throwing stuff together to make something with worth. The command tank was an experimental design of them taking a failed prototype and turning it into a command vehicle to make it useful. Prototype is preproduction, experimental design is when they use what they have available to make something useful.
So wrong😂🤦
I’m not ☺️ but if that helps you sleep at night, then be my guest.
