Duplicate Vehicles: Why We Add Them

Amusingly enough, as an oldhead, I have an IS-7. And KV-220.

Bruh. When will Belgium’s F-16AM be changed to the APG-66(V)2?
I don’t understand why an accepted report has been left untouched for two years.

I mean tracked boxer 120mm had a 1200hp engine while weighting 42t and a top speed of about 70 kph. It would keep up with more Mobile tanks without issue. Sure the tracked boxer is a little fat but still

dishonest, vague-posting, blaming the playerbase.
And it doesn’t even make sense when the F-14 (barely even) D is a premium that comes at the cost of a AAA videogame. Or the Toldi II, out of which there are only two variants, a serial-produced version and an experimental one, and you all locked the serial-produced version behind battlepass and SL gamba boxes. Hugely damaging the potential uniqueness of the Hungarian sub-tree. Or there is the serial-produced Turan II…locked behind battlepass and gamba boxes.
So much for not wanting " important or unique vehicles outside of the research tree".

No unique vehicle should be GE premium, especially when it comes at the cost of the tech tree missing out on it completely. And the same goes for event vehicles.
Premiums are there to speed up the grind. And the factor of profit should not damage the uniqueness of a tech tree.

Gonna have to fight the Italians who want Brazil lol

Love the look not so much the camo though

Na the rheinmetall demo camo is peak

Definitely slick, would be nice to see Germany get that + KF31 w/the 35mm cannon

I think it’s unlikely we’ll get any ifv varient of kf41 or 31

I want to be as sincere, but also clear.
I don’t have any problem with copy-paste vehicles. Wether in tech trees or, as premiums.
I think that seeing a vehicle in as many colors as possible is a wonderful thing, and I’ve been pushing for the addition of the RAF Sabre, Mustang Mk.IV, and Washington for a long time because of that.

But I have a genuine problem with how the F-14D has been added into the game.
Despite not having Amraams, the Super Tomcat has a massively different radar than the F-14B, and by different, I really just mean it’s clear better. If this was an F-14A late, or F-14B of a specific squadron, I would not have minded it’s addition as a premium, but it is, sincerely the best Tomcat in the game by far.
I know exactly, it’s not an easy situation, but This time, the clone premium wasn’t slightly better, or a sidegrade, but very much the definitve F-14 variant that has gotten to be a Premium.

I mean yes I guess It makes sence, but like, the AMX-30C2 not being ready is kinda weird, since the model is like 99% equal to othe AMX-30s we already have. For us who like playing France all of this just feels like we are always getting the short end of the stick, like if feels like it’s been ages since the last time we got a unique vehicle. This just smells of inceserity and a way to laught at the comunity, like we are clowns or something

I don’t mind copy paste premiums or vehicles so long as it doesn’t take away from tech tree vehicles. I genuinely wouldn’t mind a premium copy of every single tank in existence, IF EVERY SINGLE TANK IN EXISTENCE WAS ALSO IN THE TREE.

I don’t understand why the Leo 2A4M wasn’t in the US tree or UK as a normal Canadian vehicle is, or why Germany couldn’t get it in its tree as a normal tank. Why wasn’t the US oscillating turret heavy tank string part of… lets say the TD line? Or the heavy line? Why are dozens of native and outsourced AA not present in so many trees while Russia got like five in just a couple updates? Give us a tech tree E-100 with its more accurate turret to IRL, that would be neat! Add copy paste vehicles that have armament buffs, like a slightly up-BRed Ajax with the CROWS-J. Or Strykers with Javelin launchers. You guys also add a bunch of event vehicles that would fit PERFECTLY as foldered vehicles or tech tree vehicles. The R400 would have been a cool predecessor to the RadKampfWagen.

I don’t know why it took like 8 months plus after the M44/M55 was added to Germany to add the Hummel, and why things like Wespe are still missing. They take away from native designs is the issue. Copy paste itself isn’t, its the lack of making the original stuff first/quickly after. M44/M55 could have been done in an update dedicated to WWII era SPGs for all nations with the Wespe, Hummel, Priest, SU-26, M41, M53 (M55 with a 155 instead of a 203mm), Sexton, Bishop, etc. Give events a real theme instead of a jumble of barely related vehicles! The Heavy Artillery Update has a fun ring to it.

I also don’t understand why event vehicles don’t rotate in and out, so people still have to grind for them but old event vehicles can still be acquired. They could still make money off the stages. Could even bring back the linked events or make it grinding stages like they do for battle passes (add them to battle passes! As free or paid vehicles. Give people the chance again.) or modern event vehicles with tasks.

My preferred solution is premium skins on the store (like the gooner tanks or the Ostfront packs etc), prototypes as rotating events (and bring back those fucking events like the Goliath tank events and paintball), production/service vehicles as tech tree.

But hell, give France native designs, not a Leo1A5 model which has been present in the game for years and took comparatively no extra time to model. You can’t argue that it takes a long time to model then shit out that. You have the baseline for the LeClerc, make those variants. Or more AMX-30s, or AMX 13s. Every copy paste should be accompanied by a native design as well.

In addition, US still lacks FnF ground vehicles with things like CROWS-J weapons stations. Model Javelins like Spikes if you want to.

Take a break from modelling new stuff and fix four year old issues like the Abrams turret ring, Challenger mantlet, M774, things like that. Have a R6S style “health of the game update” and talk about everything as you’re working on it. The RAH-66 Comanche launch order problem was forwarded to the devs over a year ago. Putting aside that it never should have happened, why is it taking over a year? What kind of flag is present that can’t just be a changed value like a switch?

This would be a huge chance to work with the community, to establish clear guidelines on what’s used for balancing, for sourcing, when Gaijin feels it needs to fib for balance and why. Be open about discrepancies between irl and in game, like saying "we know there are accounts of the BVM being penned in the UFP but this wouldn’t be fair, nor are they proven, so we have to go off official figures and have made it this way to give the BVM a chance at top tier.

Having the new Abrams basically stock grind as an M1A1 is also… a choice. Why is the SEPv3, a tank from the 2010s, using a shell retired in 1988 as its stock shell? That’s basically another example of copy paste without being a “real” copy paste. Give it at least M829A1 as its stock shell.

I don’t personally mind the GenAi stuff but I know that’s a personal level thing. But it could have been an in game skin, or a marketplace camo. I’m happy Senrai Maidens tanks don’t cost extra though, I think that would be a huge issue.

The first reason is that a real life country may have a set of interesting vehicles

So add those instead of copy paste

but not enough to form their own independent research tree.

BeNeLux objectively has more unique vehicles than Israel or a combined Korea tree

but at the same time, do not want important or unique vehicles outside of the research tree

You’ve been doing that exact thing for 14 years, and you did it this very update with the Pucara and Fw 189 C. As much as I agree premiums should be minor variants of TT vehicles, it’s funny how it’s only the most expensive top tier premiums that’re all suddenly effortless copy pastes.

We often use export vehicles and other smaller nations to fill gameplay gaps in the trees.

What gameplay gap did the Australian Abrams fill when Britain has 8 Challenger 2s and plenty more potential variants left? What gameplay gap did the Leopard 2s fill in France with 5 Leclercs? What gap did the Leo 2RI fill in Japan with 3 Type 10s and 4 Type 90s?

gameplay variety are important, but so is the identity of each nation and the feeling that a tree offers something distinct.

So I’ll ask again, why are you adding copy paste instead of the “set of interesting vehicles” all these minor nations have?

and hypothetically if we could add all of those remaining unique vehicles right now, there would be nothing left for the future, or forever, potentially.

But you won’t add them all now because that’s literally not how the game’s updates work. You’re saying this to make it sound like copy pastes are necessary to keep the game alive.

Vehicles that are entirely unique, complicated or vague take much longer to make,

So you admit it’s laziness or at the very least poor planning

or are so obscure that we’re not able to create them with the information available on them at all.

We have flat out fictional vehicles, we have vehicles armed with weapons they never had IRL and you’ve been flat out making up armour statistics on top tier MBTs for 9 years

Another goal of ours is to try and add something for each nation every update,

For the majority of the game’s lifespan it has been completely normal for some trees to get no new vehicles in an update. We have 5 major updates a year plus events in-between, people can afford to wait.

Instead, it’s an addition to help gameplay lineups and variety “right now”

I’ve already listed a bunch of copy pastes that blatantly do not help already fleshed out lineups and I could’ve kept going

simply because there are no options for the lineup in the tree. This exact situation is what we try to minimize happening.

That is entirely your fault for adding incomplete trees and new vehicles with no potential lineups. If completing lineups is the point, why did you give France Leopard 2A4s when they have nothing else between 10.0 and 11.0?

That’s the big catch with Benelux

They have tons of really interesting vehicles (ACEC Cobra 25, m41 LCTS, FN herstahl armored cars) but they fill practically the same roles and capabilities that French domestic designs do. There are a few odd ends that provide something new like the YP-408 106mm recoilless, but most things don’t actually fill gaps that France can’t organically address

How long was the Hummel in game files? 10 years?

So if 105 GSR might never be added or at least might take even longer for it to finally show up would this also apply to the B78 and Close combat vehicle? Another highly requested post war prototypes for Japan… i understand for these some info is lacking tho i also think the lack of info is over estimated…i would also not mind if you guys simply estimated some things untill more info came to light.

If something generally only has a couple of photos to go by (such as the Komatsu 105), then its less likely to come to the game. Lacking information can be one thing, but from a 3D model aspect, there’s also issues to be had there if there are insufficient resources available to show the vehicle.
