Drop Tanks for lower tier aircrafts

So, we have drop tanks for almost all top tier vehicles. Why not add them to every lower tier aircrafts that uses them? Examples:

Mostly because there’s no point. The only planes that have range issues in game are after burning jets and rocket planes. Though im still annoyed that the drop tanks on the a21’s are on by default and not removable.

but it’s cool tho

Aesthetics. Fuel in the game already affects the weight having these can account for the longer duration of fuel. It would just be a model with a damaged model. Wouldn’t be much of a difference.

While yes it doesn’t matter, most things in game can also fly in this same category of “doesn’t matter”

Purely “in-game” reason for them would be to allow lower tier prop aircraft to run less internal fuel and fuel tanks that could be dropped when you get into combat, meaning you maximise performance without compromising on range. A Pseudo fuel dump mechanic.

It takes resources to develop such a feature, which a s others have said would not be particularly useful in the vast majority of situations. It would be very interesting to see drop tanks for aesthetic and historical purposes but it’s also entirely understandable why they haven’t been done yet

The smaller details are what make a game replayable. Other once it becomes a one time and that’s it. It’s why games such as Resident Evil 4(original) stand with the kings of games. Compared to their remake counterpart which has stripped a lot of that away. While it has a similar feeling but more brought up to date. It lacks the little details that you don’t expect which you may notice in your next playthrough.

The American F4U used a tank full of napalm as a incendiary bomb on the Korean battlefield, which made our soldiers suffer a lot. This will also play a role in the game. It will use lighter weight to destroy bases and light armored targets common during World War II

The A6M3 has an external fuel tank but it cannot be jettisoned :( The F-80 is also missing its drop tanks iirc. Some planes like the P-51 would need the minimum fuel to drop to about 10% in order to make external tanks viable, but it’d be pog to see

Drop tanks for the F-86, MiG-15 and etc would be pretty nice. I don’t see why anyone would be against that. They’re not like props that can have upwards of 20 minutes with min fuel.

Drop tanks on props would be great in Sim, no more need to bring 40min internal fuel when you can go on drop tanks most of the way.

Should be honest.

I mean you would still likely be taking 40 minutes of fuel. In terms of how it’s coded only difference is->Next line of code=able to spill it or drop the tank. It more or less depends on whether Gaijin will give the modifications seen in reenactments or not. ^-^b

the plane i want drop tanks for the most is the mig 19

Internally? No, I’d carry like 25min + whatever’s in the drop tank.
