Douglas B-26B "Kalong" - "Invader's Last Hurrah in Indonesia"

Well, need a lot of help ID what weapons it carried. Found a good image of the plac, but have no idea what they are.
I did find a mistake on it, but most of rest is unknonw.
Was one of them a SURA-D ?

The Hispano Suiza one is most likely refering to SURA-D

in the 60s Indonesia obtained license from Hispano Suiza to domestically manufacture all kinds of rockets, both air-launched and ground launched. These licenses included the SURA-FL, which would eventually become the SURA-D (you can see it in the top of the img below, “Air Rocket, SURA-FL - MENANG”)

Proyek Menang, Kemandirian Produksi Persenjataan Roket – Aviation History of Indonesia

but it also includes a lot of domestic developed variants from these rockets (can also be seen below the SURA-FL). we mount this rocket on everything we can, helicopters, planes, ground-based launchers etc.

for instance, we can see the standard SURA launcher tube here mounted on an OV-10F (with SURA-FL)

do note that the tube launchers are not the same as the rear-mounted SURA launchers found on the B-26, which uses this presumably domestic variant instead (rather than fully enveloping the rockets, it only hangs on the rear and fin)

This image is from a Cavalier mustang, which uses the same launcher

Good info!
I also learned:
“SURA” refers to the method of hanging the rockets in a vertical array on an aircraft.
Oerlikon-Buhrle took over the military division of Hispano-Suiza, renaming and developing the rocket into the SURA-FL, which is the SURA-D.

What is that cylinder behind it, fuel tank?

Anyone with Facebook look over the pictures? There is more pictures than it will let me see. Redirecting...

no clue, but its mounted on the B-26 as well, so it being a fuel tank is not likely i think, considering its size

It could be the Swiss OPALM since it was mentioned as being part of its armament selection, but I dont know how exactly the bomb would look so cant say for sure, could also be just a dummy display for all we know

heres the full photo gallery

One of the source I used stated that it carry Hispano Suiza HSS U1-A and HSS UF-A rockets. I presume they are the original name for SURA under the Hispano Suiza. I have tried looking for them online but I couldn’t find anything.

As NFrost51 said, it could be the “Opalm” napalm bomb (which was produced locally), or it could be a non-descript bomb-looking replica for museum display

@NFrost51 while cylinder could be the OPALM, it is seen mounted outside while the load chart shows it inside. Not ignoring it, but not well supported.

This is a challenge to find these elusive answers!

Another error in load chart, the Hispano Suzia shows only 4 points and 4 “bombs”, I think it really indicates the rocket mounts, each mount carrying 2 rockets. Compare with the others that show 8 points and 8 rockets.

Wiki is not an official source for informaion, but could point the way to find useable sources of info.

As far as my research goes, based on photos available on the internet and physical sources that I had access to, they seem to only use the wings stations for rockets and gunpods. Only the aircraft on display today seems to mount bombs under the wings. Though I would not discount the possibility that they might be able of putting bombs under the wings in the past, I just does not have the proof for it.

Agree the display is not accurate to operational use.
I also found that they used the 4 rail for the HVAR on outer wing, which had room for the gun pod inboard.
The SURA-FL (D) was mounted at same location as the gun pod, so there can never be the both at same time.

THIS biggest question now, did four of the long Mk 82 fit in the bay? The outdoor display Surabaya, East Java mounts 2 of them, and it is hard to see how 4 can fit.

Why does this Invader have such a low BR in the game? only 4.3

Developers must have mistaken this B-26B for the B-26 Marauder aircraft (which is also at 4.3) instead of the Invader.

(They don’t know that all A-26 Invaders were redesignated B-26s after the B-26 Marauders were pulled from service, post-WWII ;P)

Yeah, I do wonder if the “Mk82 500lb” in the chart might refer to older and shorter bombs, a book published by the Air Force stated that it could carry 8x 500lb bombs, it’s only possible to carry that much if it’s the shorter bombs and four might fit inside the bay, with four others under the wings (at the expense of other ordnance)

I doubt.
It is also Rank 3.
Japan has a horrible rank 3 bomber line up (and some have outstanding bugs that would improve but still not fixed) so I think this Devs are using this make up for that weakness.

Also the bomb load is much less than what US carried, mainly because could not get them. It is actually ironic that many of the bombs it was built to carry was no longer available.

I expect it will change.

Meanwhile the loadouts improved, more work needed. I need to see every picture of rockets loaded on them.

the HVAR is exactly correct (missing the AP one)
The SURA I have significant questions on, being no more than 4 rails at any one time.

Japan also has a issue of lack of domestic aircraft rockets (I know the late props have the bomb on a firework but there not like the Allies spam you got to hit your targets) Hopfully that gets fixed with more sub tree or Gaijin / community finds some more Japanese WW2 aircraft rocket prototypes.

Japan is did lacking in rocket armed aircraft IRL, the best thing for JP TT now is this bomber and maybe some aircraft like SURA-D armed AURI Mustang

Japan is missing all its Fleet Air Arm which would give a lot of HVAR platforms early on. The S2F-1 can get some FFARs.

Probably the best option is the Toyo FD-25 that can get 40 FFARs or 20 of the Oerlikon rockets.

Still these are all post war aircraft, but would sit at WW2 BRs.
