Doras vs Griffon Spits

Test pilot Eric Brown rated the Dora-9 and the Spitfire Mk XIV as the top main production fighters of the ETO and as virtually equal.

In a mass battle of, say, 40 Fw 190D-9/13 vs. 40 Spitfire Mk XIV/21 with situational (according to the aircraft’s strengths) and pilot skill parity which side would you rather put your money on and why?

How might such an encounter play out?

For sure D9 and D13 flight model are brutally nerfed.

Spit, cause D-9s will struggle in any turn fight and they will hardly outclimb spits, since many IRL advantages can not be used in WT.

Spitfires overperform by quite a bit, and pretty much every spitfire in WT aside from the 3.7 ones are undertiered.

same with the yaks pretty much all yaks are under br same with spits for example why is the YAK-3U and SPIT LF-MK9 5.7 when things like RE-2005-0 are 6.0

minor nation tax

Any proof of this? In what ways does it overperform?

So spit 6.7.needs to be same BR as early jets… no

P-51H-5 and Spitfire Griffon outperform early jets in every metric aside from straight top speed. I don’t see why they can’t be same br as Me 262 or P-80

Its not even the best at 6.7.
Dunno where people get these takes…

5.7s are pretty hopeless against 6.7 Spitfires. Atleast other 6.3/7s like F7F, Ta 152, and Me 262 have actual viable counterplay.

Spitfires because they are probably easier to fly.

The D-9, like the Fw 190 were built to win wars, not win every fight.

And the high velocity armament of the Spitfire would also give it an edge in shooting down D-9s.

britain is a minor nation too ya know its just straight bias honestly of the devs as they never adjust any of the brs in this range

quite literally the best prop ive flown Mk24 is probably my favorite plane for 6.7

  • Spit Vc/VcTrop/XVI/22/Seafire III/XVII/47
  • Undertiered

🙃

It depends. Spitfire probably in most cases, especially subbing in 22 because 21 isn’t in the game.

The only real war time Griffon Spitfires were XII and XIV anyway.
