This is from June 1944 though, so likely missing some things. Interesting to note though, there does appear to be both an inert and APHE round for M82.
It also lists the large filler M82.
This source is from 1961.
There’s also this document.
At this point I really think Gaijin should just split the M26 into 2 vehicles.
- T26E3 Heavy Tank: 6.3 with WW2 ammunition.
- M26 Medium Tank: 6.7 with Korean War ammunition.
Good old Fireball getting in game representation 😁
This makes sense, since American fuses had a fairly high rate of premature detonations, and the M77 wasn’t quite good enough because it lacked a cap and had poor metal tempering.
I like the idea of separating it to offer more interesting ammunition progression. But the two would be very visually similar, which could be mildly confusing in battle, and makes the upgrade a little less exciting for players less engrossed in the historical side of the game.
I’d suggest just limiting the M26 to WW2 ammunition and dropping it to 6.3, then porting the M26A1 to the US tree to refill the 6.7 spot. Visually, the bore evacuator of the M26A1 makes it easier to distinguish from the M26 at a glance than the T26E3.
The A1 also has a bit less chronological ambiguity (if that makes any sense) since it is definitively a post-war era vehicle, making it the easiest variant to justify giving post-war rounds.
M26 with overpressures APHE will probably be way to strong for 6.3, though.
If the tank stayed in its current state, I’d agree. If it gets the mantlet armor nerf, then it can probably drop to 6.3 since a lot more vehicles would be able to damage its turret frontally.
