Does the Chinese MiG-17/MiG-17A (J-4) even exist in real life?

In some of the literature I have examined, China is developing the J-5, which has afterburner domestically.

However, as for the regular MiG-17 or MiG-17A, I couldn’t find any documentation that the PLAAF had them, not even a photo.

Does somebody can posts any documents about J-4, except for illustrated books?

To me, it looks like another Chinese PT-76 moment…

The J-2/J-4 is non-existent. The first domestically produced aircraft in China was the J-5 (which sounds like ‘nothing’ in Chinese, meaning ‘from nothing to nothing’), and the aircraft will retain its original code name. Only domestically produced aircraft will receive the Chinese code name

On November 16th, 1954, china received 96 Mig-17s from the Soviet Union.

They went on to Operate the Mig-17F, Mig-17PF, and SDK-5.

The Mig-17 family was retired in 1987.

China did call its Mig-15s in J-2 in some documents, but i haven’t found anything on the J-4 designation.

In the case of the J-2/J-4, did they receive several aircraft from Russia?

IIRC, there were several MiG-15/MiG-15bis on display at the museum in Beijing, but I couldn’t find any MiG-17As.

They did not operate MIG-17A.

That photo looks MiG-17F because you can see bigger airbrakes.

Do you have any documentation to point to that?

I would like to use it for bug reports.

Thanks. I will get within few month.

I’m just confused but, they NEVER used OG MiG-17s right?

They did.

Received 96 in 1954

Perhaps the only issue will be the name in the game.

At least it looks like it won’t be needed to remove one of the aircraft I play the most in the game from the TT.

These MiGs looks MiG-15s because canopy mirror is missing

PLAAF just calls Mig-15 “J-4”.
La-9 - J-1
La-11 - J-2
Mig9 - J-3
Mig15 - J-4

Is there’s a Chinese document using J-[1-4]? I never seen one so i wonder where these names comes

Same here.

Although several documents exist on the Internet, they are all unreliable.

in fact Chinese(and Belarusian) client use MiG-15 and 17 instead of J-2 and J-4
