Because the current bmpt in game does have a strange blowoff panel.
But this is impossible due to the structure of the turret. The ammo is placed horizontally.
Similar structure like marder, btr80, they just explode when being shot.
There’s a picture from inside of the BMPT that shows exposed ammo going through the crew compartment, might me partly disassembled though

i mean only the ammo on the outside of the crew compartment is counted as external and doesnt lead to death
but all the ammo are connected with each other, there is no internal or external, they will explode together.
Gaijin’s reasoning is that it’s too low of a caliber to trigger a sufficient chain reaction… I think, or at least, I overheard this was the reason
Afaik Gaijin never actually stated anything about the modeling of the belt. The part with the chain reaction came from some rando in the forum who doesnt know what hes talking about.
According to Gaijin the calibre is very much able to trigger a chain reaction evidenced by vehicles like the Marder which have a similar ammo layout.
Well, yeah, but BMPT is on the propaganda list, so that chain explosion fact doesn’t exist

It’s one of the most egregious things they did, along with the fantasy levels of autocannon accuracy. The thing is rolling piece of propaganda to a degree which would even give Pravda pause.
