you mean like it is in real life XD
The aggressor basically just locks radar and launch missile (“a click of a few buttons”) and the defender suddenly has a lot more on their plate to deal with. Missiles are even sometimes launched as a deterrent to force the enemy into defence and not to actually try to hit.

You can still notch them only now it’s inconvenient because you would need to drastically change your altitude.
I mean just scroll up and see the video, how much perpendicular you wont me to go??? common please if you have nothing to say plesae dont spamm here. thank you I asked for help
It clearly came from behind you.
In this case the radar in the missile isn’t pointed straight ahead. I was wrong to say that you need to fly perpendicular to the missile, you need to fly perpendicular to the direction the missile’s radar is pointing.
Thank you for your input I appriciate it, can you please stop trolling and spamming? Thank you
You clearly dont know whats behind or you are blind. Anyway again thanks for your input, good luck to you too
how would you notch them both? notching it means turning the plane 90 deg from the incoming missile and if the missiles are coming from 90 deg from each other there is no angle to choose where both are notched.

In order to notch you need to move along an ellipsoid around the missile. Now you need to move along the intersection of two ellipsoids since you have two missiles.
This isn’t a perfect representation since I used spheres, but it’s good enough.
Missiles are blue dots, their target is at (0, 0, 0). Blue line is the notch.

That is a very good descriptive image! Thank you for that one :)
I honestly was being stupid and only thinking in 2D planes… Thanks man!

Look at the replay in sensor mode. It really help to see what the missile is doing and why you didn’t dodge it.
Look where the missile is coming from. The RWR shows it at your 3, but it’s actually in pursuit here.
When in doubt, just go cold or straight up do a 180°. You actually needed to turn to the right or the left here to notch the missile.
Sensor mode helps a LOT understanding what happens and why, it helped me a lot to learn how to dodge missiles reliably.

Yeah I recorded this on PS didnt go to replay I guess I should, also really strange then RWS didnt pick it up…But I guess theres not much you can do when whole enemy team just spams missles…its more luck than anything…
Also I find extremly annoying and zero fun having to do all these complext things to defeat click of a mouse.
Anyway appriciate your advice I will try go cold and do 180 degreese.
Honestly the best way to deal with them is to be well positioned in the first place. It’s not easy because half the map are garbage and 16v16 is a clusterf*ck of missile, but with a decent management of your TWS you should have a good idea of where the enemies are and position yourself where you aren’t an easy target.
F16C is still one of the best plane in the game atm along with the F15C. You should be able to deal with most enemies easily and you outrange everyone that isn’t an Aim120 carrier by a factor of two.
I do think top tier isn’t really fun in general. 12.0-12.7 is the sweet spot of missile gameplay to me.
But really, use sensor view on replay whenever you get hit by a missile you didn’t expect. It helps a looooot.

Thank you man I appreciate your help I will try positioning myslef better and when I get hit by something I didint expected I will surly check the replay sensor view.
Again thanks for help
Hence I would go cold if i had distance and time to do so.
Well first off you weren’t in a perfect notch, how “precise” you have to be depends largely on your speed. The missile was a few degrees north of 90° when you levelled out. Secondly aside from that one singular chaff you put out, you didn’t start chaffing until the last moment
So i have to be perfect angle exactly 90° cant be 89.99999°, perfect speed, perfect timing, perfect altitude, perfect chaff, perfect pich up/down just to beat simple mouse click?
If yes Im not gonna waste my time in this rank.
BUt I will take your advice also thank you , Im not mad at you Im mad that I need to do all this to beat a simple mouse click is redicilous
Pitch and altitude does not matter for notching, being pitched down can help you drag the missile into thicker air and help you keep your own speed up so you can maneuver, however it doesn’t really have anything to do with the notch itself. Only the angle. You want to be as close to 90° as you can, usually something like ±~2.5°, so 87.5-92.5°. However this depends on your own speed. The faster you are, the narrower this gap is. This also why Harriers or very slow targets in a dogfight can trick your fox 3’s with chaff despite lot being close to the notch. Then of course you want to chaff more, and preferably not 1 second before the missile hits you. Once missile is too close, it’ll change aspects very fast as you can see in your video so it’s near impossible to hold 90°’s
