I remember watching this a while back and I’m setting up belts again, is this still the case?
Also is there a way in game to see velocity of shells? Doesn’t seem to be on the stat cards. Or is it just wiki work?

Still the case. Nothing changed about it.
Probably never will, knowing Gaijin.
yes, sadly
also a shame that we cant make our own belts speaking of ammo belts.
stealth belt best belt like always, especially on defas
Custom belts would be a great addition. I’d love a alternating belt of AP-Tracer-HE for my 30mm pods in the Swedish sector.
From videos I have seen on the matter, it is inconsistent. Happens on some aircraft and not on others.
Plus different belts with separate firing guns like on Corsair and Crusaders.
I would be running AP-T HEf belts on basically everything but it would be nice to choose what I’m shooting like in a ship or tank
Are custom belts realistic ie we could argue for them from that perspective?
Not sure how they are put together irl
Also setting up all my belts it seems like choosing the correct round nets ~10% increased velocity in some cases just how effective is that really?
I’m not sure on aircraft but M1 tanks use 4 to 1 mix API APIT on .50 cal and 240s run ball with tracer every 5th round. I know those aren’t modeled correctly in game which leads me to think aircraft aren’t either.
I know in the first world war that pilots often would load their own machine gun belts, but that’s when they only had one or two machine guns, likely in the second world war this job was delegated to the armourers however I don’t see why the pilot couldn’t choose
idk about tanks, but for infantry atleast we did whatever. I always put a tracer round as my 27th rounds so id be aware when im about to go dry. IIRC IC and 2IC had to put more to “direct fire”, my 2IC just took a mag full of tracers, said he only carried it if he wanted to gunner to target somewhere but he couldnt explain properly. And gunners has a tracer every fifth, or so was regulation but we took armor piercing over any other when we could, then next was regular ball and like i said id put a tracer as my 3rd last round so im not exposing myself thinking i have more rounds. Technically you can notice the weight and kinda keep a mental note but when it gets hot theres alot of stuff that are fine on range that you dont even pay attention to.
in essence we loaded whatever we wanted, id assume tankers, pilots are the same. Mission dependent too id imagine
Yeah I carried a magazine of all tracer also for M4 specifically for marking targets, mainly for CA/CAS or Infantry support when we had it. When we got a hold of some SLAPT for the CSAM .50 we snatched that up quick. Not readily available though. When it came to 240 we could only get the 250 rounds cans of linked ammo. There we defiantly some time we could have used AP belts for the coax. I don’t know what the Bradley crews had for their coax I assumed it was the same. Never thought to ask them that.
They dont come pre belted, shure there are documents like the L.Dv.4000/10, however it itself writes, that these are recommondations and the best fitting composition with the supply line in mind should be taken.
In reality belts are generally made either:
So in that sense everyone taking whatever ammo they want to use is just as realistic as having 10 vehicles in a single battle of which only a single prototype was created.
WT is about vehicles and not about historical accurate scenarios.
In WT you can’t take 100% Mineshells for your 20mm even though that was used for Schräge Musik guns.
With custom belts you can take 100% Mineshells for attacking planes, even though a mix of shells should be more effective.
In WT it isn’t, so there’s an issue with how effective some shells are over others.
There’s still so much wrong with ammo and explosive shells for air have become what APHE is for ground vehicles.
