Do new aircraft matter anymore?

For aviation at the upper tiers, i don’t think new vehicles matter. Every aircraft plays the same. Same formula, different skin…

I have just about every aircraft in the game with around half of them spaded. Everytime a new aircraft comes out in an update, i give it a try and i do the same thing. Same tactics with super minor alterations.

Over the last year, nothing really changes. The F-15 feels super similar to the Su-27 which feels super similar to the Mig-29 which feels super similar to the Gripen which feels super similar to the M2000 which feels super similar to the J-10.

Sure they’re not identical. There are slight differences if you get into a merge and minor differences in missile launch parameters. But it doesn’t really change much in the game. You still play the same. Same tactics.

The only time i see a bit of a difference is in Sim. Then the differences start to actually matter but in RB and AB(which is dead at top tier) theres really no difference anymore.

Gaijin really needs some new ways to play these aircraft.

This endless TDM is getting VERY stale and it’s causing me to not care at all about the new shiny planes each update.

i mean Top Tier reached a pinnacle in missile fights,…

also most people just are rushing mid maps missiles and guns blazing,… at this point what to expect?
maps are too short for the Gameplay.

Thats how technology went. With time every major power found out that same ideas and solutions works best, thus creating very similar aircraft, ships and tanks. Only few examples hold on to their doctrines, while majority is brought to same standard. That and also there is much more technology transfer between countries than in the past.

Just saying that this is a game and if all planes play very similar then gameplay is the only way to vary things up and right now gameplay hasnt really changed much in 12 years…

I mean, until they add new mechanics that is going to be the case yes, as it probably has been for many years before, aircraft just get faster, has tighter turn, faster missiles that turn better , etc. untill a new mechanic is introduced that changes the “meta” at the time. Like when the first IR missiles got added or when the first radar missiles got added, or when the first ARH missiles recently got added, or vehicles with thermal pods, IR AGM, etc.

At some point in the future they might add datalink between aircraft, AWACS, electronic warfare, GCAS, proper ground radars connected to the HMD. there are many things that could possibly be added. Until then top tier is going to just practically be more of the same but faster and tighter turns etc. (as with any tier when it was top during its time).

I just personally hope that they focus on mechanics more than more modern jets, as any jet more modern than they currently have is basically going to be the same as what we have because all the upgrades they got IRL doesn’t have a mechanic in game, they are basically there already.

On the other hand top tier is quite balanced now. Most nations have a capable top tier aircraft which can’t be said often.
