Do Heavy Tanks have any real use in game?

That’s if the Tiger didnt self destruct or ran out of fuel before making it to the front.

Heavy tanks are for fire support in the Cold War era, being able to shrug off heavier weapons while returning fire at range, while in WWII they were a frontline offensive weapon due to the nature of the weapons available at the time having trouble penetrating their thick armor, basically being a brawling weapon.

Due to how they are in game and the BR they have to be at to be balanced, making the armor a tool not to fall back on.

Only the Tiger II really had transmission issues, and with it the Jagdtiger. Fuel was a big factor in the late stages though.

Heavy tanks are still some of the best, if not the best tanks at their BRs.Best 7.0 goes to Tiger 2 105, best 6.7 is tied between the T26E5 and KTH and so on.

Once again using the E5 as an example, your mobility is still very respectable and you’re able to react very quickly. If you need to react quickly to tanks on your sides/rear, you’ve fucked up long time ago (or your teammates did, such is the curse of WT).

Yes, HTs fall off after roughly 7.3, the armor still matters. Lot of tanks don’t have HEAT or don’t run it. Your armor is less consistent than before but it should’ve never been something you rely on, unless you know that the enemy can’t pen you anywhere. It still catches bad shots, which is really the main purpose of armor.

Also those exceptions are kind of like medium tanks themselves, if we consider later developments.

(Compare the patton, pershing, tiger E and say Kv-1 (zis-5))
