I cant speak much about that BR. I hated it. I just powered through and got to the other side as fast as I could. Tortoise was wierdly fun though.
I dont play much ground these days. I finally got the Challenger 2 and then was instantly disappointed by it and Ive not touched it since. Not really played much WT in the past 3 months, Just been waiting for Britain to finally get a new aircraft. Which is at long long last (nearly a year late) coming this update. Providing they dont change their minds. Air is my main passion in WT
I came to WT to fly but I find the actual games to be so 80s/90s it’s unbelievable. Capture the airfield by landing on it? Like what seriously? I expected Memphis Belle like dogfights over bomber’s with two sides duking it out as it the 2020s, not the multi nation airshow we have instead so it became GRB by accident.
Not encouraged by what I am hearing about 6.0 for the UK. I find that WW2/Cold War crossover lame as well. The constant messing about with BR and maps is stopping me playing a much as I once did. Losing faith slowly. I’ll try the Tortoise though thanks for that.
Im probbaly not the best to comment on that BR. My main interstest was getting to the Challengers, So someone with more experience might give a different PoV.
ARB I find kinda boring, But I thoroughly enjoy SB. Large maps, you can really deploy IRL tactics and you have a lot more 1 on 1 fights. Im looking forward to dogfighting again in the Gripen.
So honestly I am a British main, but I have been getting into USA more and I find the nation is a lot more boring as the teammates are so brain dead like some people have mentioned but the vehicles are a lot more powerful
My favourite line up in the whole game is honestly the 7.7 line up for Britain, but I never even bother with the centurion Mk.3, it’s worse than everything else they have there in every way so why is it treated as equal?
They don’t have a choice, Britain mains are more skilled as a group.
So if you didn’t nerf British vehicles, the team with Britain would have a 70% win rate before the match even starts, which isn’t fun for a video game.
You can avoid doing that IF you give up on team based matchmaking, though, and have completely free for all mixed battles every time. Are you willing to give up on that?
Respectfully, I don’t think it matters for a couple of outliers the centurion Mk.3 isn’t a vehicle just Britain uses, it sucks in every tech tree, and so does the Mk.10 which really sucks for new people.
I remember getting the Mk.3 for the first time and being like “this thing sucks why did they even move it up in br?” Then I went back to playing the Mk.1
Also what about things such as the Churchill Mk.1 and Mk.7 they are so horribly painful to play
A few years ago (?) they committed under community pressure to never having copy/paste vehicles be different BRs. So copy/paste vehicles are locked into the average of the nations that play them, proportional to how much they play them, basically.
If A Centurion Mk 3 is 70% played by Brits, then it wills till be higher in BR than normal, because the typical skill driving a Centurion Mk 3 is still higher than average.
Ya’ll demanded the game be less well balanced and then surprised pikachu it was less balanced when they agreed
Also what about things such as the Churchill Mk.1 and Mk.7 they are so horribly painful to play
I have like a 3.5 KD in the churchill 1, it’s pretty decent. Haven’t played it that much, because I agree I don’t think it’s that FUN due to being slow. But it performs fine
Important: Don’t take tanks out in full uptiers that rely on heavy armor in the first place, bring out other things in your lineup that are more glass cannon-y
People still complained about the gr1 forba long while after the br increase. Even still to this day, a lot less now.
But that is due to the sraams. Sraams are no where near as effective as they were at release. Anyone with flares has no excuse for getting hit by them.
Speaking of sraams, remember how they had the hunter at 10.3 facing top tier stuff because “it has 4 sraams”. That was just sad.
Well, this is my own opinion but the UK ground is strongest pre-6.0 BRs. As you have some of the best guns as the lower BRs.
Everything is either over BRed or one one Tank is good in the line-up any BR 6.0 and up. Or the ammo doesn’t work 90% of the time (I feel like I’d have better luck winning a jackpot in Las Vegas than HESH working.)
The only BRs I enjoyed past 5.3 were 7.3 when the current 7.7 Cents were there and the current 8.0(Or namely the Vickers Mk 1)
Not too mention the fact that SRAAMs are currently rather… buggy. I’ve seen more than a few straight up miss what should have been an easy shot. When they did those AAM aerodynamics update end of last year. I think they forgot to update the SRAAM and it just over compensate continuously to the target. So you cant really lead a shot anymore.
Completely agreed on the Centurion Mk 3. In the past it deservingly went up. It was a monster.
Now with new vehicles and BR adjustments it’s been power creeped from usefulness. There’s no point of taking it compared to the Caernarvon, Conqueror, or Centurion Mk 5/1. It definitely needs to go back to 7.3 and share a line up with the FV4202 which it compares far better against. Gaijin could then add a Centurion 7/1 and 8/1 at 7.7 to fill in the new gap, one of those vehicles could even be a premium.
Churchill Mk I went up because of statistics. Gaijin saw it was earning too much SL (which is what they base BR adjustments on, it’s all earnings potential) and increased it. Now it’s completely useless in RB. Even in a maximum downtier other nations medium tanks might as well be Jumbo’s. You’re sniping at weakpoints with your ineffective 2-Pdr against M4A1 Shermans, T-34 (1940), Panzer III M, etc.
For other 2-Pdr vehicles it’s not so bad because you at least have the mobility to flank.
Another issue for Britain is simply the lack of ammunition. There’s tons missing. For example:
Australian 2-Pdr’s are missing HE HV. Which used bofors 40mm HE rounds on APHV cases.
Gun Carrier 3-Inch is missing SAP.
6-Pdr Mk V is missing both APCR and APDS ammo.
QF 75mm is missing M61 APHE. The British used both, and the myth they never used APHE needs to die. There was an initial period when early M61 ammo had issues prematurely detonating so they requested the US instead make them inert rounds for the interim, the US used these as well. Once the issue was resolved the British continued to use up the massive stores of inert ammo, while also using fresh deliveries of APHE M61.
Tortoise 32-Pdr is missing APDS.
Chieftains are missing L15A5 and L23A1. Instead they have a fake L23 round that’s been bug reported as such over 4 years ago and never implemented.
The list goes on. The other issue is that vehicles simply aren’t modelled accurately mainly because accurate information on British tanks have only really been dug up over the last decade. Thanks to British archive diggers. A lot of WW2 vehicles for example are still missing armour. Such as Tetrarch, Crusaders, and Churchill’s.
