Discussion on ZTZ99A model errors in game

I’m well aware of all its issues, however i don’t care enough to bring it up in unrelated discussions

I literally only play top-tier China

The attitude of Gaijin towards Chinese vehicles is just extremely bad

My brother from another mother, the ZTZ-99A, is quite weak compared to other nations, and in terms of top-tier Chinese tanks, the best is the M1A2T in my opinion.

Two years passed and then another two years

Guess we can all agree that the Devs won’t even give a slime sight to this post anymore

They’ll see it, they just won’t do anything

Considering how much the Devs neglect the CN TT, I completely agree

Does m829a3 punch though the ztz99a and vt4 frontally in the dev server?

Not the ZTZ99A, I don’t know about VT4 yet, but I doubt M829A3 works any better on it, you can already penetrate its UFP at an 83° angle with normal rounds anyway

VT4 (and VT4A1) in game has FY-2 ERA at best on UFP so…

Yes but as far as I know M829A3 has no modifier for them yet

The VT4/A1’s armor is unusual; the M1A2T’s 38.1 mm frontal upper plate at an 83° angle is stronger than the VT4’s 45 mm frontal plate at an 82° angle. Even more bizarre is the 75° angle of attack on the same armor plate: the M1A2T has an attack angle of ~150 mm and the VT4/A1 has an attack angle of ~173 mm (+ ERA 120 mm), but strangely, the VT4/A1’s frontal upper plate is easier to penetrate.

It’s been like this for so long and it’s honestly just infuriating that nothing has been done about it after multiple reports

Yes, Chinese vehicles are not taken into consideration, and when they are finally corrected (years later), players from other nations cry foul (US, Russia, Germany)

It’s likely due to the ERA block equalizing the round in the game, making it so that it doesn’t have as high of a chance to bounce as it would IRL. Of course this also neglects the whole thing of ERA destabilizing rounds in the first place. Something like what can be seen when shooting a Russian tank in the side with the round going off angle after going through the ERA. I don’t recall seeing a bug report on it though so they might just be unaware of this issue.

Even so, the ERA plate is moving away from the tank. Why would it equalize downwards towards the UFP and not away from it?

Good question! I don’t know, but it certainly seems like that should be the case. It’s probably just reducing the chance of ricochet as the round has already penatrated one layer of armor. I don’t know that it has the tumbling mechanic added to it like relikt on the side of the bmpt has for example.
