You cant set multiple target points in the Tonka?
(not that PW4s are working currently)
Edit: Tested it, you canm but the PW4s dont work with the system on anything, even the Typhoon

Ignore me. Just tried with EPW2s on the jet (and after the aforementioned restart) and it’s working now… 🤦
Yes, tried it in the German MFG and it worked.
What aircraft have it and what not seems reasonable, but that would need more research:
F-111A: no
F-111F: yes
AV-8B (NA): no
Harrier T.10: yes
AMX A-1A: no
A-6E TRAM: no
…
All in all seem slike a fun and useful addition for those aircraft that got it!
My major issue however is that the marks really only are visible on the map window and if a targetin pod has it in its FOV. That makes navigating by those points very clumsy…
Hmmm… okay yeah, that is wierd…
I just figured all aircraft could place the markers
All aircraft with CCRP, Tpods or FLIR could target a marker
Only GNSS weapons could be salvo fired.
so its either bugged or someone has done something really stupid
Yeah, that is annoying but for a game that cant even give us basic symbology half the time. Im not really surprised
[Development] Aiming Points for Salvo Firing Guided Weapons - News - War Thunder
How will it work? All aircraft with GNSS-guided weapons will have the ability to set new waypoints — called aiming points — new markers independent of the point of interest.
Eh. Not too much of a fan given it’d still be useful for using your targeting pod to cue stuff like Mavericks, but it makes sense I suppose.
I think it allows for better planning your strike and having a lighter workload while you execute it and have other things to worry about, so that’s nice.
Also did anyone also notice that the release speed on the GBU-39s is again limited to 1.1M? Bug, I think. It’s unlimited on the live server.
Hm, what I also still need to test: Are those markers persistent if you land and respawn, e.g. in Sim EC?
So i mark the target, then link that target to weapon selection. Then i toggle salvo release and i will not do all 10 release with the GBU-39. it maybe hits 2 or 3 targets.
Yeah, it seemed like it was working a few hours ago (not 100% sure though) but seems totally broken now
Dev server what can you do lol
Yarp. It should be a late beta test, but its always more like an early Alpha
I meant not too much of a fan of it being only for GPS weapon carriers, should’ve clarified ^^
I think they use to have the 1.1 release cap, and it may have been removed during an update by error. so expect it to come back
The wierd thing is its not. At least not entirely.
Tornado GR1 for example has it but does not have GNSS weapons. So is it because it has other variants with GNSS?
It just feels unfinished for now
I’m worried, the change (removing the release speed) was not mentioned in any changelog, only extracted by dataminers, so they can pull a 1984 and say it was an error, revert it back to 1.1M on live.
Ah, didn’t check that. Probably (definitely) unfinished - honestly this feels like it was probably a last minute addition to add to an otherwise relatively thin update (though is still a pretty good update with the QOL things imo)
things happen in error sometimes. I remember using the 39’s and getting the too fast for release so it was there before, it will probably be fixed with the update.
Everything on the dev server always feels like that. I dont entirely get why the public dev server is always an early alpha and not a late beta
Common industry trend nowadays… Falls under the same umbrella as early access titles 🤷
