Discussing the M830A1 nerf

no, they were shit on release, theyre arguably better now than they were then

You can make a suggestion to add XM943 STAFF, or M1147 AMP rounds. XM943 in particular would be extremely effective against hull down enemies if EFP penetrators finally get made realistic. M1147 AMP is the current final competitor to the role of M908 and M830A1 and should have decent HE filling and penetration.

Can also suggest the Marines (so the M1A1 HC) receive Mk. 324 HE ammo, which is German DM11 programmable HE ammo with American designation.

If making the suggestion for alternate shells it would probably be a good idea to highlight which tanks that swapping the ammo out for would return penetration to due to the explosive mass being reduced for the HE-DP shells.

I kill Russian MBTs that are hull down all the time. It’s not a very hard thing to do. And yes, the Abrams is extremely annoying to fight when it is hull down, especially when you cannot exploit the turret ring. It becomes just as hard to kill as any MBT that can’t be readily penetrated through the turret cheeks. As for you mentioning overpressure, the vast majority of Russian players don’t exclusively main their HE shell, they still use APFSDS.

I sometimes have first round 9M119M cause it can 1. Over pressure and 2. still pen. Kind of middle between using HE and APFSDS. It does work, only thing is in city maps.

I generally don’t think NATO HEAT are even worth bringing after APFSDS stock was given.

so dou you have a source signed by the president that says it has a higher explosive mass?

because the document they used was signed by those guys:

and the specific article was written by an army major

unrelated to this post

that is just a blatant lie

because you saw the original post without reading the thread and made an assumption just like the orignal poster that gaijin used that blog post for the nerf

but hey if it was really unrelated that means it is off-topic and should be deleted

Well, they nerfed it and still got it wrong.
2.2 pounds is 0.9979 kg, not 0.966 what is it atm. :D
So its is missing 30g of explosive.

30g is literally nothing ( ~1oz)
(idk if you use the metric system)

it could have something to do with, how gaijin modeled the explosives themselfs so they might be slightly overperforming and gaijin is compensating by slightly reducing the mass of the explosive

(this is just an assumption on my part tho)

Yeah , it is quite nothing but when they want to start nerfing or buffing should do it right then.
But more is always more explosive and i wont hold my breath snail would do anything right especially when it comes to any abrams.

  1. its not proven that they didnt look at the post lol
  2. my comment is related, but i was referring to a different but similar situation. Are you fr?

It’s really just common sense. What is the point of an OBSTACLE REDUCTION being a heatfs round? It’s pretty obvious that it would act as saph-he because it is designed to burrow and detonate. What good does spraying a stream of molten copper in one direction do to destroy an obstacle? It doesn’t, therefore gaijin and everyone that disagrees is just wrong plain and simple.

Because the energy imparted by the projectile during the impact may not, in fact be sufficient to penetrate modern and thick reinforced concrete formulations used in fortifications for optimal performance of the warhead (due to recent advances in techniques and the use of exotic additives). Also with a sufficiently advanced fuse design a dual purpose SAP-HE / HE-FI / HEAT round can exist, and so with appropriate fusing can determine if it has impacted either a hard or soft target, and action the warhead appropriately.

HEAT warheads still generate significant Fragmentation due to variable Axial velocity of ejecta, and casing mass / fragmentation jackets creating a toroidal fragmentation pattern. It’s one of gaijin’s biggest modeling issues being the HE & HEAT comparative modeling.

How the hell did this thread come back to life? Ohhhhh, the HEAT thing, great.

It’s designed to embed itself in a structure, it does not need to fully penetrate as that would defeat the purpose, but it is in fact not a heat round. It’s literally supposed to act as a traditional he.

You can say what you want but documentation disagrees.

TM 43-0001-28

“The warhead explosive is contained in the body with a shaped copper liner, in front of the booster. The liner provides the penetration capability for the system.”

“The operational characteristics of the M908 cartridges is basically the same as that which is utilized
for all HEAT-T tank ammunition.”

its pretty well known that this round is SAP-HEAT-FS-DS

IRL heat rounds produce similar shrapnel patterns to traditional HE rounds, hence why lots of NATO rounds are categorized as HEDP, as they function as both HEAT and HE-frag

You mean like where I bug reported the AH-1G/Tzefa pilot gunsight that should be zeroed to the under-pylon weapons (such as the rockets) and not the chin turret that was denied because “reasons”? I included the TM and everything
