On November 10th, 1888, outstanding Soviet aircraft designer Andrei Nikolaevich Tupolev was born. He designed over 100 types of aircraft, including the Tu-2 frontline bomber, which was widely used in WWII, the Tu-4 strategic bomber, and the first Soviet passenger jet aircraft, the Tu-104.

The Tu-1 is temporarily available at a 30% discount for Golden Eagles!

About this aircraft

  • The Tu-1 is fast but fragile. It features two 23 mm forward-firing cannons as well as two 45 mm cannons. Additionally it has bombs and torpedoes, including three powerful 1,000 kg bombs capable of destroying any ground target. While working on the Tu-2, Tupolev wanted to make a truly multi-purpose aircraft capable of escort, interception and attack, which is how the Tu-1 project began. Work on it was completed only after the war, and the prototype did not go into production, since it was inferior in characteristics to jet aircraft.

Passenger aircrafts (like Tu-104 ) in WT!
Only partially a joke, since if you did not know - most civil aircrafts of that time were made with back thought of retrofitting into bombers at emergency geopolitical situations (additional frames for potential payload holders, turret placements…), at least in Soviet Union.

Gaijin, ordering you to commit such a retrofitting and unleash to the air battlefield!

Maybe we can get a passenger sim mode in war-thunder, points for overcoming bad weather landing in harsh windy and winter conditions, how about that?

Or perhaps we could get the Tu-16 for multiple nations. And EC for more gamemodes.

Tu-1 is actually very decent CAS. Not as good as Tu-2 but gets premium SL in return

The only premium I regret buying. An overweight brick with fragile flaps and a turn rate worse than a B-17. Bought it for GRB before I had played the tech tree, only to find it a worse CAS solution than the Yak-2 I had been using.
Just my opinion though, maybe others can get it to work.

TU-1 is a very good CAS option, it’s just pretty harmless against enemy planes, so make sure air is more or less clear before you spawn in it. Other than that it has basically no flaws.

3x FAB-1000-44 is a very good bomb loadout. Not as good as 3x FAB-1000-43 on TU-2, but still works great.

It’s guns also do wonders. I use them mainly for eliminating SPAA, it usually takes 1 or 2 hits to take any of them out, but since addition of APHE they work great at killing anything.

You just need to watch out not to dive for too long so you don’t crash into the ground and you should be fine
