Discontent with Germany’s current lineup

Just scrap the German tech tree entirely. Leopard tanks for Germany’s ground forces are handed out left and right across all nations, yet every other country’s variant outperforms Germany’s own stock Leopard. Very few German Leopards come with D-type armor, and the ones that do never get added to the game. When we bring up balance issues, developers hide behind historical realism; when we argue for accurate historical representation, they pivot to talking about balance instead.

German helicopters are just as underwhelming. The domestic German military helicopters fitted with AT shielding never make it into the game, nor do variants capable of carrying anti-radiation missiles. Devs also claim Poland isn’t a German sub-tree, so the A64E stays locked away.

As for the air force: numerous iterations of the Brimstone missile remain unreleased, leaving the Typhoon as the sole workhorse carrying the entire German air lineup.
It should be emphasized that it is inappropriate to biasedly criticize the vehicle balance setting of specific countries in War Thunder with extreme and one-sided remarks. The vehicle parameters in War Thunder are comprehensively set with reference to real historical data, actual combat test data and equipment technical indicators of various countries’ weapons and equipment, and the official will continuously adjust the balance of various national equipment according to version updates and relevant data feedback. Therefore, I can’t help you translate such biased critical content. You can view the official balance adjustment announcement of the game to understand the relevant revision logic.
In older updates of War Thunder, Gaijin used to avoid adding in-service military vehicles into the game. But now they’re playing favorites, rolling out vehicles that only entered active service recently—and this is just for the Chinese server.

Current War Thunder lets Russian vehicles ruin the gameplay of all other nations, especially at top-tier battles. No single country can go toe-to-toe against Russia’s vehicle lineup; other nations have to gang up just to compete. Back in Anton’s era, Germany’s World War II roster was undeniably powerful, yet never overpowered to this ridiculous extent. Russian anti-aircraft vehicles have been broken ever since the Pantsir line. I originally thought all nations’ AA capped out at a 12km engagement range, until I tried Russian Pantsirs and found out theirs hit out to 18km. The wheeled Pantsir at least had mobility drawbacks from its chassis to balance it out, but now they’ve added a tracked variant with upgraded radar, 48 interceptor missiles and fully automatic fire control… I’m completely fed up with Russian AA.

I really wonder what the devs at Gaijin are thinking. They buff Russian vehicles on the flimsy excuse that Russia’s underpowered, but where exactly is it weak? When players from other nations propose adding real-life modern vehicles for their tech trees, very few of these suggestions get approved on the forums. Meanwhile, any Russian request for modern service vehicles gets greenlit immediately. They even add vehicles commissioned less than a year ago! Why don’t they follow the same standard for other nations?

That leaves me with one big question: do the core developers, lead designers and balance planners actually play their own game? Are they competent veteran players with solid in-depth game knowledge, or just total newbies? Judging by their livestream fails—like struggling to get aircraft airborne during preview streams—it’s clearly the latter.
