DIFFERENCE between R24-R and R24-T?

CAn you guys(and girls) list the differences between the R24-R and R24-T??? I was looking to buy the MiG23 ML, it has both of them and was hoping to find the better loadout!

R-24R is radar, R-24T is infared.

Wow, thanks for the fast response! plus I’m a wt noob soooooo, “infrared” means the type of missiles that seek other players’s engine right? and I heard that the R24-T is quite bad, is that true?

Yep, heatseekers. I have no idea about the quality of the R-24R vs the R-24T- I don’t play the soviets so that isn’t my place to speak on.

What I will say is that the R-24Rs are SARH missiles, requiring a radar lock to be maintained until they hit- but generally they have longer range then IR missiles and are better front-on.

The T’s are similar to other IR missiles in how it works-, but has significantly more range then stuff like the R60M (4km front-aspect vs the R60s 2km, 16km rear-aspect vs the R60s 10km) and is far heavier.

thx soo much :)

They are not exactly bad, but i would suggest you take the r over the t. Plus you have the r60m so you already have 4 ir missiles.

The one russian ir missile i think is equal to the radar version is the r27et

welp…thx :)

Hello very simple and easy to understand,

R24R medium range radar missile long range 15 km hit rate 100% (and this is seen in RWR system and alarms enemies can notice it coming)

R24T short range heat seeking missile long range 7 km hit rate 70% (this rocket is not radar but heat seeking, that is it follows the heat and is directed to it, if ‘‘FLARE and CHAFF’’ is fired, it will 100% miss and miss before hitting the target and will not be seen in RWR system, I think top tier 13.7 aircraft can see this missile, since it is an old generation IR missile in RWR system, but I am not 100% sure if 13.7 RWR can see these IR missiles, but I remember F16C can)
