Didn't US Aircraft also use AIM-9Ps along with 9Ls?

I have heard things about AIM-9Ps being used by US jets as well. Especially if run low on more modern stuff. I’d like to hear more about this is anyone has info on it

Note, I’ve seen stuff about “base model” AIM-9P being like a 1978 missile. AIM-9P-4 and AIM-9P-5s I have no clue about their years.

Plus I’d like to see AIM-9Ps as a side-grade option for stuff like AIM-9Js for the F-16A block 10 if it’s real.

Not to mention on other U.S top tier stuff as again an arguably worse and very optional “side-grade” (non-mod thing) for F-15s and U.S F/A-18s.

I have also seen stuff about AIM-9P-4s having all-aspect capabilities like the 9L. Along with AIM-P-5s having 9M IRCCM and all aspect capabilities.

I mainly want more info on this but if it IS true i’d like to see AIM-9Ps in the US aircraft have them as options for historical reasons

currently aim 9p is better than aim 9j in game because it has identical characteristics but can be slaved to radar

Btw, I wanna point out part of the reason I ask this is because i have heard that USAF jets have used AIM-9Ps when better missiles aren’t available.

Another part of this, in all honesty is because i want less brutal missiles to 1V1 friends when i’m in later US jets.

AIM-9P Sidewinder - War Thunder Wiki.

Wait a second even the old wikipedia says the USAF has ton of AIM-9Ps.

Probably for training and less serious threat stuff. But it’d still be nice to have for historical stuff
