The issues still remain with the nature of APDS. Ive had too many rounds just not do any damage or shellshatter, etc etc.
Shir 2 Should be like 9.3 at the most, as its armor is actually worse than the Chieftain Mk10 on the turret, rounds that pen the Shir 2 won’t punch through the stillbrew on the Mk10.
Nerf it down to just having L15A5, with L15A3 as the stock round, Give it the Chieftains 8 second reload instead of the Challengers 5 second reload, and put it at 9.3

If L15A5 was properly modeled that wouldn’t be a problem, its a Third Generation APDS round (one of the last ones actually), it in testing could UFP a T-64 at upwards of a KM.
And do the same to a T-72 at 500m.
Its a amazing performing round that Gaijin refuses to add.

L26a1 was developed under CHARM 1, its older than that dart. making L23a1 would be the accurate dart
its better mobility over chieftain makes it necessary for balance. just like if the XM800T didnt get a german APDS it would be 8.0 still and that would be horrendous for everyone

To be fair, I’ve been using the Conqueror every now and then and the APDS felt pretty good. I’ve got next to no experience with other 120mm APDS tho
Yea its quite messy, usually for balance which i do understand for quite a few vehicles. Imagine how low fox would be if they decided to make it a 1973, before the APDS was fully developed, it would only get the APHC and the APSE lmao

British APDS works amazing, yall are just having PTSD from American APDS that does litterally nothing. my top played tank for YEARS was the Chieftain Mk3, And it was a absolute beast.
Those claims seem pretty dubious to me. Here is the report for the 1982 Chieftain / Challenger APFSDS firing trials. You can see that the shot they are firing is designated L23A1. So it seems very odd that they would carry out acceptance trails for L23A1 in 1982, then accept L23 into service in 1985 and replace it with L23A1 shortly afterwards.

I was playing a little Cheifftain Mk5 the other day and I was getting hits against gunbreaches where theyd just go a little yellow or hit the side of a lightly armoured tank and get “non-pen”

Dunno, maybe it’s just me, but over 400mm pen at even at 2000m range is amazing, even if it just kills 2 crew members most of the time
