[DEV] Thai BTR-3E1 IFV - Feedback and Discussion

  • Feedback:
    • The combat module and weapon systems are correct though there are some features still in progress though, unsure why researching crew leads to improved horizontal/traverse rate considering the vehicle uses a fixed-electronic system in an unmanned combat module. It does have auto-tracking. It has the correct penetration for the RK-2S missiles though, it doesn’t have the full name of the missile nor does it have the option to use the RK-2OF HE-FRAG version of the missile. It does carry a total of 6x missiles. They did correct the missile’s flight from the devstream so it is a lot more usable and interestingly enough, not affected by the Shtora APS (only noted due to most similar systems in-game are affected). It does have APDS belts available and good/correct thermals. The Panorama-2P commander sight is not available yet, though it is modeled. It does have its’ Spall Liners so that’s a big win too. No digital camo available yet. The 30mm Grenade Launcher and Coaxial Machine Gun are incorrectly named though, should be KT-7.62mm and KBA-117 30mm Grenade Launcher. Currently sits at 9.0, definitely see it between 9.3-9.7 at some point before release as well as it being capable of knocking out high-tier vehicles with it’s faster horizontal traverse and dual ATGM access when compared to other similar vehicles.
    • Once it receives its RK-2OF missiles, it will be more effective on locking onto short-range air targets and destroying them with its HE-warhead alongside its ZTM-1 autocannon.
    • Overall, this is a very good implementation of the Ukrainian BTR-3E1 for the Thai Sub-tree, good job to Gaijin, the vehicle is on the right track.

    • Incorrect name for RK-2S Tandem-HEAT ATGM, current name in-game is R2.
    • Incorrect name for KBA-117 30mm Grenade Launcher, current name in-game is AG-17.
    • Incorrect name for KT-7.62 Coaxial Machine Gun, current name in-game is PKTM.
    • Missing RK-2OF HE-FRAG missile selection.
    • Missing Ukrainian/Thai Digital camouflage option.
    • Panorama-2P Commander’s Sight not available but is modeled.
    • Missing Auto-tracker/IRST.
    • [Bug Report] Lack of firing ATGM on the move. - Accepted
    • [Bug Report] Incorrect max speed. - Accepted

The RK-2OF missile should be added as a selectable option for the BTR-3E1. These specifications come from the manufacturer. The name of the missile currently in-game has should also be changed to RK-2S from R2. Note the right side of the table is not for the BTR-3E1’s missiles.

Best vehicle of patch…

Honestly it’s pretty sweet:

  • High mobility as well as being Amphibious.
  • Good Thermals w/ IRST/Auto-Tracking.
  • APDS-T Rounds.
  • 30mm Grenade Launcher.
  • Strong ATGM’s that can fire in quick succesion.
  • Sweet camo when it’s eventually added.
  • Spall Liner-equipped.
  • 14-15kmph reverse speed (not ideal but not bad either considering other options).

I think it’s going to be moved up in BR.

Does APFSDS exist for the BTR-3 cannon? If so i would love to have it, if not then oh well.

It is a beam-riding missile and as such, is immune to IR jamming

No 30mm APFSDS-T round was made for or sent to Thailand sadly

If they’re going to move it up in BR, why not just give it APFSDS?

You know, that’s true. I haven’t any idea if China ever sold DTC10-30 APFSDS-T or export equivalent to Thailand. There’s a good possibility they might have something since the ammunition can be shared between the VN-1C and the BTR-3E1. Would need some outside input on that

Should be okay since many vehicles in WT have weapons they could technically use, but they country didn’t buy them

I would like to raise a question regarding the BTR-3E1 being unable to fire ATGMs while on the move.

According to the Ukrainian tactical manual (No distribution restrictions) «ВП 7-00(03).01: Methodological Recommendations on the Tactics of BTR-3, BTR-4 and their modifications» («ВП 7-00(03).01: Тактика застосування бронетранспортерів БТР-3, БТР-4 та їх модифікацій»), the BTR-3E1 equipped with the «Shturm» turret features the OTP-20 optical-television sighting system integrated with the ATGM fire control system. Furthermore, it utilizes the SVU-500 armament stabilizer.

Based on these technical specifications, the vehicle should be capable of firing its guided missiles while in motion. Currently, this is not implemented in-game. Is this a known bug or a deliberate balance restriction? I would appreciate any clarification on whether this will be updated to match the technical documentation.

i think this was a leftover of the copy&paste of the BTR-82AT which have the same 5km speed limit

I wasn’t aware of this. A bug report should be generated using the manual
