not sure if this is in the write section but if not please let me know where to put it.
would consoles be able to handle raytracing and the other new graphics?

The PS5 Pro will be, the PS5 itself…probably not.
I asked based on the PS5 Pro availability, here:
Ray Tracing, no, everything else, most certainly.
RT (Ray Tracing) is a thing locked behind specific GPU types with the designation RTX, as these are the “Ray Tracing” core types, which have the processing power to handle RT’ing. While I’m sure some non RTX cores could handle it, it won’t handle it in a cool manner, and would likely overheat or fireball (I’ve seen someone’s PC catch on fire from GPU overclocking)
Ray tracing is not a RTX only thing it’s not even a GPU only thing.
Yeah, it has to do with chipset as well, but in this case, I’m simplifying it for him. (Chipset as in Motherboard and CPU)
???
Chipset has nothing to do with it.
wasnt really what I was asking about, I was asking if it would be allowed to handle it. you know if they will lock it or something? (for reference I have a one X or series X not sure I know its an X though)
Yes, it does, but there are some non RTX cores than can run RT. If not so, go ahead and give the facts.
If it’s a series X, it can, I don’t believe the others can though.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Your chipset has nothing to do with raytracing at all.
Okay, then instead of just saying “Your wrong” correct me please, I’d rather learn something I don’t know apparently, then be kept in the dark.
Chipset just facilitates communication between your CPU and the rest of the system. Your CPU communicates with the GPU either through the Northbridge or directly. Ray tracing happens on the GPU and nothing on the chipset affects if it can be done.
Then as for this?
Non RTX GPUs can do raytracing, no matter if they are Intel, AMD or Nvidia. You can even raytrace on the CPU.
my phone was able to use raytracing on Minecraft with a texture pack enabled, was really laggy and crashed a lot though
Yes, this I know, but as for it to run effectively and smoothly; you would like to run it with an RTX gpu, no?
Idk. 7900XTX performs pretty similarly to the 4080 in ray tracing.
Yeah, but it’s just a beast of a normal GPU, and price point speaks that. Still a better option than dropping a grand for the 4080
I’ve been looking to getting a 4060 or 4070 recently.
What do you mean “a normal GPU”? Also they cost almost the same.
Normal as in not RTX core centered
800 comp to 1000 and up to 1200 is a pretty large price difference, and it’s cheaper than the 4080
Not to mention 4080 supers can go to 1600 to 1800 depending on the factor and producer.
