Despite searching, I find very little on how performant the French bluewater tree is. Specifically, how's the aigle and support vessels?

Essentially, is the aigle any good? If I lose the aigle, are vessels at its BR or lower any good to avoid wasting the SL booster?

I’m planning on getting the aigle thru the warbond shop (3 more levels for 200 more warbonds…), and I wonder if that’s a terrible idea and if I should just save my warbonds instead.

This looks very enticing:

It really depends on your experience level with navy. The French are not very beginner friendly.
The Chacal and Bouarrasque are both very good lower BR destroyers, but require a little finesse, and for you to do a lot of maneuvering to be effective.

The Vautour is an Aigle so it will play the same as the premium version. It has good guns, but it’s fragile like most of the French destroyers. Some of the other destroyers are really German and play a lot like their counterparts in the German tree.

The tree, at the moment, is not outstanding but does have some capable ships.

Pray for downtiers. From limited experience, you won’t stand a chance against full uptiers to face F.K.s, Moffetts and Blags. However, you will dominate downtiers if used properly.

My first match on it was great; The SAP shells are extremely good, but you have an atrocious turret turn speed, a lacklustre AA armament and above waterline ammo racks. As expected from a destroyer, it’s also rather responsive.

In conclusion, a nice but situational little destroyer that will serve you well if used to its full extent.

Observation so far for whoever is thinking of the aigle from BP:

The aforemention uptier issue feels very, very tangible. It’s a massive roll of the dice if you get a 40-50K SL game or barely make any fighting the moffets and the like. It feels too risky to take a booster on her as well, as apparently assault arcade universal back-up rewards don’t count for naval.

I feel it may be more worth it to just TT T3 vehicles that give similar SL rewards, but allow for a full 3 boat line-up to maximize SL gains if you’re not outright buying premium boats.

It does feel fun to drive in a downtier, but we all know the probability of getting such…
