Defending Energy Attack Tips

In air battles, mostly realistic battles, as someone who uses american planes, such as the P-51D, and
P-47, I have had to deal with BF-109s or Yaks that are at least one kilometer above me, even after a good climb. I am not the best pilot, but I have tried some strategies that try to evade their energy attacks. One particular strategy is compressing. Here is a link to a video below of what I mean:

If any of you guys can, can you please give some tips on compressing or defensive flying in general? :)

Well, the thing is, in the video the Bf 109 compresses above 600-700 km/h and turns into a cinderblock with wings, and then he does a reversal thanks to the 109’s lack of airbrakes and its compression. That’s mainly what he does: it’s a forced overshoot with steps that requires plane knowledge. At the end of the day it’s a forced overshoot, so look at some tutorials.

And defensive flying: you need to know how to force a reversal. For a reversal you need an overshoot. How to force one (I’m bad at explaining, so please look up “how to overshoot” on YT) this is how i would explain it: make yourself slow with all means, but DON’T STALL. Don’t try to extend away unless you know you’re faster. Try to make a big corkscrew horizontally, and don’t dive or climb unless you have heaps of energy. Then try to get behind him and shoot him down. If he’s smart he will extend away, but most aren’t and think “oh, the plane is getting closer, that means it’s easy to not miss.” Make your movements not too predictable, make it hard to aim at you, and that stuff should help. Now, I’m not an ace or anything, but this is what I believe will help you most.
